If they truly take the time and effort to find out why they did what they did in the first place and come to an understanding of that, and then make a committment to not go down the same path.

My BF committed adultry at least four times during his marriage to his first wife. I also committed adultry one time during my marriage to my first husband. The saying is "once an adulterer, always an adulterer". Well, we have been together for more than six years now, and neither of us have been unfaithful. We made a committment to have therapy, to read relationship books together, to put our relationship first before anything else. I trust my BF to the ends of the earth.

ocgirl, we have not promised to be perfect for each other. We have not promised to stifle every natural urge we have. What we have done is promised ourselves that in this relationship we will behave as adults and not act on those urges. Growing up is hard to do sometimes, but it is "possible".
