I have been married now for almost 5 years.

I would find a few marriage counselors and find a few to visit with him. He has to buy into the idea and if he feels that the counselor is on 'your side' then it could all backfire on you. Let him ask around and check that person, too. There are a lot of things that would be irritating me, too, about your man, but essentially the man isn't listening to you at all. Don't approach him with accusations. Tell him that you're the one that needs the help with communication skills and you need his support. Tell him that you want to work on your marriage skills and it would help you out if he went with you. If he refuses to go, you find someone to go to by yourself.
