I don't know if this is a new show or an old one.  There's a couple on there on the road to divorce.  She works and even provides child support for his kids from another relationship.  He works occasionally but what you "hear" is he'd rather not work at all, he could find other STEADY work in a new field (I think he works construction) but he won't and as a result, her income is what they have.  Anyway, Dr. Phil tells her his past behavior is the best predictor of his future behavior, which we quote here from time to time.  And then he added - looking at the husband - that if he wants things to work out "you have to create a new history".  That's a terrific way to phrase it, and I can see that pertaining to all kinds of things we talk about here.

I know Dr. P. has gone commercial now that he has his new show and keeps writing and advertising books he's written, but I still haven't disagreed with anything he's said, either.  I think it's because although he has the education to back it all up, what he SAYS is just common sense stuff.

Myradorn, still hanging in there......

My favorite Dr. Phill comment is "How's that working for you?"  We often make up our minds that a certain course of action ought to lead to a certain result, and when it doesn't, we just do more of the same thing even harder.  "How's that working for you?" is a great reality check.

I have ti agree with you......Dr.Phil gives great advice, IF they want to hear it.  It's rare that someone doesn't take his advice......and fix their problems.  I couldn't believe the recent woman who's being conned out of money by a scammer, and it seemed that even at the end of the show, she refused to believe that her $187,000 (in one year) was gone, and refused to believe that there was no 6 million dollar account waiting for her in the Caymans.

I also have to agree that great as his advice is, he's REALLY pushing this new book, and his son the publisher.  I even agree with the premise of the new book, it's a new world, with different rules.......but enough already!  It seems that  he's picked "cases" that call for pushing his book.  Strange, he never did that before with his other books........

I also like Dr. Phil and agree with what he says.

He has a new book out?

I have to add, I do miss the 80's with Donahue (sp?) and Oprah back then.  Sally Jessie Raphiel, I liked her show too.  I liked it when Oprah use to talk about personal relationships and such.  It seems the last 10 years, she focused more on celebreties.

Anyone else like the talk shows from the 80's?
