(1) to send the same general email to more than 1 person/recruiter in the same office?
(2) to keep in touch with 2 different people/recruiters in the same office?
(3) to send the same general email to 2 different people/recruiters when 1 of them is coming to you with job opportunities and the other never bothers to even email you back?
(4) to find different contacts in different offices of the same company?
I did this -- Am I wrong and what should I do?
I got in touch with a recruiter early this year, left him a voice mail. He never bothered to call me back (I did not even expect that from him). I kept sending him emails every 3 weeks or so but never heard back from him.
A few months later another recruiter from the same office called me and told me to come in and meet with him. I went and then stayed in touch with him. Called him when he wanted me to call him and kept sending him emails every 3 weeks or so to stay in touch with him. He once a month or so called me with some opportunity that he thought I would be interested in.
The bad part -- While I stayed in touch with this second (nice) recruiter, I also kept sending the same templated general emails of staying in touch (but never called) to the first recruiter (who never got back to me anyways).
Meanwhile, I got a job through some other agency and told the second (nice) recruiter about it and did not bother to tell the first recruiter who never got back to me. Lately, this second (nice) recruiter who stayed in touch with me found out from the first recruiter that I had been sending him emails as well and all were the same general templated emails.
I, however wrote some emails to the second (nice) recruiter that were specific to him and the rapport I shared with him, but no emails were sent to the first recruiter that were even 1% personal.
When the second (nice) recruiter told me (and not asked me) that I had emailed the first recruiter, I felt very bad but stayed very calm when he talked to me over the phone. I did not know how to react...for me it was that as long as I know how to maintain and manage my relationships, having more than 1 point of contact in the same office didn't matter much.
This second recruiter is really nice and just because of what I did, I sometimes fear I might lose a great recruiter who is so nice to me.
What should I do? How can I change the situation? Should I say something to this second recruiter -- it's been a month since he found out? How should I behave in future? Will he trust me?
I have stopped sending the first recruiter any emails. What else can I do?
Thanks and sorry it's long and perhaps not in the appropriate discussion board.
