Question of the Week - What do you think of Prenups?

Have one?

Oooh... that's a tough one.

Hmmm. ok. here goes:

Don't have one.
Probably won't need one unless we win the lottery... today.
Should get one although I can't think why.
I'd happily sign one if it had a generous provision for alimony ;-)

I think a post-nup would be more important - assign a division of your property (just in case) and include a child-support agreement while you are still on good terms... although that DOES sound somewhat pessimistic...

There is a case for serious consideration of a Prenup. If either party has children from previous relationships, then a Prenup can be of value to ensure the kids are not compromised in the event of a marriage failure. Perhaps a component of the net wealth should be reserved for the kids while increases in net wealth become shared with the spouse should the marriage fail.
