If your landlord’s daughter lived in the apt/flat upstairs, and for some reason insisted on playing incredibly loud thumpy music all night on her new stereo which just happened to be located square above your desk, where you were trying to concentrate, at what point, if any, would you think it was fitting to march upstairs and kindly request her to turnit down, and how?

Edited to add: QOTW = Question of the Week - this is a hypothetical situation

I would ask her as soon as it became a problem. I'd express to her the benefit of the doubt, telling her that I realize she may not be aware of how much the music conveys beyond her apartment. Then I would ask her if she would help by keeping her music down a bit to allow for you to conduct business. I'd then tell her you'd like to also be a good neighbor to her and would do the same in return as you realize your active/sleep hours may vary.

If she doesn't respond receptively, I would contact the landlord. He is the one obligated to ensure tennants conduct themselves to allow for harmony in the building. Good luck!

I would wait for several days to see if it continued and if it did I would approach her then. If that still didn't work, I would speak with her parents about it seeing as they are the landlords and hope that I didn't get evicted which would be illegal.
