I'm helplessly confused right now.

How did you get him to agree to marriage and a child if he didn't want it? Sounds as though part of his depression may stem from the fact that you got what you wanted out of this relationship, and he felt forced into giving it to you so he's resentful.

Would a temporary couples' retreat or a slap upside the head fix your relationship and work better than lots of marriage counseling? No. Generally if you go into marriage counseling with an open mind, try it for as long as possible, and still come out no better, your relationship probably will not work. Have you seen more than one counselor? Do you understand how they tried to help or was it just totally useless?

I understand wanting to get your thoughts out here and that's totally fine, we all do, but I'm not sure what we can do for you when you have already seen someone who makes a living helping couples. We're not professionals here, just a bunch of ladies (and some men) to bounce ideas off of and offer what experience we have...

Do you love him?

I think I love him.

I'm not totally sure anymore.

We've seen 3 different couples counselors.

Ouch - I guess you would qualify as my slap up decision the head?

Welcome to the board clemclem,

:: But I have no idea what I need to ask for and I'm not sure I like that I can stand to see him cave yet again.
