Sorry, I can't reply to your post (this has been happening a lot to me this year) but I can start a new discussion.....

Read Relationship Resuce by Dr Phil. There are exercises in the book to determine what is important to you in the relationship - one is about physical appearance, maybe you can get your guy to look at that part and be honest about your weight gain.

Since it's an issue for you - the weight - what are you doing to change it? Working out, running, change in diet - if nothing is working maybe it's time for a physical to make sure it's not hormonal or thyroid-related.

As for your self-esteem, consider some self-help books (see list below) and/or some short term counseling. I also recommend you have a heart-to-heart conversation with him about the changes and explain that because of these changes is the reason you have a hard time with is visits out of town.

Book list:

Learning to Love Yourself: Finding Your Self-Worth, by Sharon Wegscheider Cruse

How to Succeed at Being Yourself: Finding the Confidence to Fulfill Your Destiny, by Joyce Meyer

How to Raise Your Self-Esteem, Nathaniel Brandon

The Aladdin Factor, Jack Canfield & Mark Victor Hansen

The Magic of Thinking Big, David J. Schwartz

Self Matters, Phil McGraw

A Couple's Guide to Communication, John Mordechai Gottman

Passionate Marriage, David Schnarch

My best to you.
