I'm in my late fifties and have been involved with the same man for almost three years.

That sounds like a good plan.

I am so glad to hear that you had a conversation with him, and that it went well. Some times I think we make ourselves crazy with the second guessing. My SO and I are LDR, and I know that he hsa a long term plan to eventually sell his business and move here. I just need to hear it every once and a while.

:) for you

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback. It really helps.

I did manage to bring the subject up without making it sound like an ultimatum.

We've already had the "where do you think we will go long-term" discussion and that is where he said that he would like us to marry someday.

You cn have the conversation without issuing ultimatums. Tell him ahead of time. that at some point in the near future, you would like tio have a conversation about where you both thinks the relationship is going. Tell him you don;t want to do it right then, as it is comething that you want to put some thought in to. And then see how it goes. It sounds like you have a pretty good idea of where you want it to go. He will either be on the same page, not tihnking the same way at all, or being male, has not thought about :)

Without going back & rereading, I think you said something about thinking about selling your house--that could be the basis of starting a discussion.
