Vacation plans, anyone?

Those if you in the Northern Hemisphere would be in the middle of your summer.  While those of us in the Southern Hemisphere are mid winter.  How are you enjoying the season?   Are you going on or have been on vacation?

I've got a weekend booked at the snow in 2 weeks.  We usually ski for a week, but the snow season doesn't mesh with school holidays and now that DD is in high school, a week out of school is not something we can do easily.    And after many lessons with adaptive ski instructors, we've given up trying to get (autistic) DS skiing - and a week at the snow is a looooong time for a non-skiier.    So, a weekend it is - with the three of us taking turns hanging out with DS in the lodge and finding other actitivites.

I've also got to get a week's holiday booked at Hamilton Island on the Great Barrier Reef.  The kids have never been and I think they'd love the resort and snorkelling on the reef.     DS is a bit cranky because he'd rather return to Thailand, but I'm happy to be doing this.

Enjoy your childfree days!   I hope you get the chance to spoil yourself a little.

A trip to Texas sounds fun.  So much of our TV comes from the US and there's so much I'd love to see for myself.  Though when I think of Texas, I think of Texas Rangers and Lonesome Dove - so I guess my imaginings are a little out of date LOL

Enjoy your childfree break in September.   And good on you for nurturing your marriage

Geo, what were you doing at NASA?    I imagine it would have been fascinating.

Music, I hear you on the airfares.    It's equally prohibitive for us to fly to the other side of the world.  Hence, many Aussies do their OS vacations in Indonesia, Thailand or the South Pacific.

Hope you have a lovely time with your dad.  A bit of time to chill out is never a bad thing.
