Assuming that he doesn't usually talk to you this way , I think you should let him know that
he hurt you and that you wont accept him speaking to you that way. Then let it go. as tempting as it might be to tell him off it wont get you anywhere an it might reinforce him thinking that it's ok to speak to you that way.

Yep, that's a common theme, the dog did this, the dog did that....he used to joke around that i loved the dog more than him.
