They asked you not to reply so think twice about doing so.

Think about whether there is anything to this. Do you have much in common? Would you spend time together if you weren't traveling?

They're saying "you two aren't our type".

Just send a perfunctory note so that you've enjoyed the time spent together, wish them well - move on.

I agree. I would thank her for letting you know, wish them well, and then let it go and move on.

I find it interesting that everyone seems to say just cut and run. Doesn't anyone try to work things out anymore? This is the first and only time we've had a disagreement. Do most people consider friendship just a temporary relationship?

Absolutely not, I don't consider friendship "temporary"! BUT, friendship is a two way street. These people have made their choice...they no longer want to be friends with you. It's like a breakup...if one person wants out, the other person has no choice but to say good-bye and let go gracefully. You can't FORCE someone to continue to be friends with you.

Okay, so what was the disagreement? Because situational details are easy enough to work out.

But if what the situations and your actions in it says about your character is osmething these people can't get past...there is nothing to work out.

They told you that they will not reply to you again. Working things out is great but it takes both sides to want to work things out and put the effort into it.

This isn't about overcoming a major disagreement or throwing away a great friendship because there wasn't one to begin with.

And if you don't like our answers then go ahead and call or write and ask them to work it out. You are in the situation, not us.

Basic incompatibility and different expectations.... let it go. You can't defend your position and be right, it is what it is.
