The gist: we dated (unexclusively) for 5.5 years when last July we had a serious discussion about being exclusive. By August he moved in.

You were mentally, emotionally, verbally and physically abused by this man for over 5 years!

"And yes, I miss the him that I grew to love"

You miss the man you THOUGHT he was.

What I see here is a crappy man making a grown woman act very immature. I know from reading your post that you are not proud of the way you acted, but everything you have said and done in your post is a reaction to being treated maliciously. So how can anyone blame you? You were threatened, and whether or not it was overkill, calling the police was what you felt you had to do. I get that you have feelings of loss and that's completely normal, but consider that rather than missing HIM (the person he is comes with a lot of immaturity, malice, cruelty, and selfishness), you actually miss the way you felt when you were around him during good times.

Those are feelings you can have with another person, and will feel even better when you have them with a person who treats you with kindness, respect, love, and consistency.

Missing someone can mean anything.
