What should I do?

My boyfriend and I recently broke up about one month ago. He broke up with me because he said that he just didn't want a girlfriend right now. We are currently talking and are "friends". He says that he still has feelings for me. We also still say, "I Love You" to each other--but I won't say it unless he does. He still calls and we still hang out together. At one point, I decided to tell him that maybe we shouldn't talk any more because I couldn't handle being "just friends". He didn't like this idea too much and so I gave in and continued talking to him. On top of that, I stayed the night at his house Christmas night. It was cool because we both had fun. We ended up kissing and falling asleep on the couch together. Even though we had fun, this was probably a big no no. I don't know what to do. Somethings he does leads me to believe that he does want to get back together eventually. If he does I just don't know how long to wait around, or even if I should at all. I love him dearly so if I have to let go, it will be very hard. Please help me on what I should do, I am very confused and lost with this situation. Any advice is welcome and surley needed.

Have a serious conversation with him. Decide if you two want the same things and then make a move if you don't. Even if leaving hurts, it won't be as bad as hanging on for another year to find out he still doesn't want to be in a relationship. You deserve better.
