Here is one mom's view of marriage equality, and what the Supreme Court rulings will mean to her family.  While she's come to accept how things are for them, it still angers her that people are not treated fairly.

The two cases before the Supreme Court this week, however, have renewed a hope that, ironically, reignites all my anger and sadness. Yes, things for my family are fine -- if unequal -- but they are not fine for everyone. And no matter how accepted I feel in my immediate community, my country has made a concerted effort to let me know that I am most definitely NOT accepted. And that is something I'm ashamed to say that I came to accept. Inequality is NOT acceptable.

Like the author, I don't understand how people can be treated so unequally.  What are your feelings on how the hearings are going?

The idea that gay marriage is valid runs along the same reasoning that humans are contributing to global warming.  There is undeniable evidence of the merits and truth that gay marriage is acceptable, as is the truth of man made global warming.  But , one only need read the bible in a manner that suggests that there are "other explanantions", other than what most people accept as fact.  Recently, a congressman stated that the biblical "great flood" is proof that rising oceans need not be a man made consequence.  Political party affiliations aside, I think we as a nation are on dangerous footing when we deny what is both obvious and declared legal. As in the US declaration of independence does state "All men are created equal" - of course I can torture the logic here and say "only men" are created equal, therefore the only legitimate marriage of equals is between two men. In a reality that bodes well for America, we know this means men, women, gay, straight, black or white. What is most perplexing is that somehow, those that torture reason and logic continue to believe a "gay" relationship, union or marriage is not equally guaranteed under the law. We also have to remember that certain chief justices will interpret the constitution as intended, with a general inflection, and that same judge will interpret the constitution extremely narrowly, with specific deflection. The reason a justice will do this is they are a liar and a fraud. And, the party that puts justices in power that will use interpretation so loosely as to fit their political agenda is perhaps more dangerous than a capricious majority forcing laws through open ballot initiatives. On one hand, a ballot initiative has the backing of a majority of peole: a fraudulent justice needs only the backing of another four fraudulent minded justices.
