Transgender Homecoming Queen!

A sign of the changing times?  Cassidy Lynn Campbell was voted homecoming queen at her high school, she was born Lance Campbell and has lived as a female for 3 years:

Campbell said she dropped to the ground and started crying when she realized she had won.

“I think that it really shows the progression of the times,” she said.

Marina High Principal Paul Morrow agrees.

“We’re proud of the message from home of the Vikings has been one of equity, acceptance, tolerance and respect,” he said during the press conference.

On the heels of the win, Campbell says she will work with members of the LBGT community and work to promote equal rights, the station reports.

And for fellow LBGT teens, her message is simple: “Just to be true to themselves and to let people know around them and to not keep it bottled up inside.” We’d say that, alone, is worthy of a crown.
