OK, I have a FWB with my best guy friend for over 3 years... we have always been careful, I am on the pill, but recently I screwed up on it, but it didn't mess my period up like it has in the past, so that is good, but we did it without a condom a week after my period was done...and I am so stupid that I just wanna know if that is the "safer zone" I am not sure... can I still get pregnant?? OMG!!! Like I feel like an idiot to have to ask, I should already know...but when is it the safest to have sex before or after your period?? PLEASE HELP ME!!!
Thanks :)

It is NEVER "safe" to have intercourse without birth control. Women usually ovulate between the beginning of one period and the beginning of the next one. If you have a 28 day cycle, it would be about 14 days after the start of a period. Women have been known to get pregnant during their period, because no two women's cycles are exactly the same, and even the same woman's cycle can vary from month to month.
If you're on the pill, and you don't skip one, or take it extremely late, you will not ovulate at all. If you DO mess up, there is a chance that an egg could be released, and if that's the case you MIGHT get pregnant. It's all "iffy".
If you mess up one month, to be perfectly safe you should treat it just like when you started. You aren't protected until you've had ONE FULL month of the pills.
Could you be pregnant? Very doubtful, but to be sure, you need to get a test when the time is right. Or you can wait till you get your next period.....or IF you get it. In the meantime, use condoms.
Agree with dakine. Every woman's cycle is different and every woman's cycle can vary from month to month. We also know that a woman can ovulate more than once a month, too.
So, no time is a safe time to have unprotected sex.
