Anal: What's the attraction?

It's obvious that a lot of posters enjoy anal sex. I did try it years ago and it didn't do much for me. What's the attraction? If there is a perfectly good vagina available, why would someone opt for anal? I'm not being judgemental, just curious. Maybe I should try it again.

It's variety. The slightly dirty, taboo aspect adds to the sexy, naughty thrill. Having your partner perform a dirty, taboo act is exciting too.
It's a very deliberate and concious sexual act so the permission and trust needed for it inhances the emotions and the intimacy.
The anus is much tighter than the vagina so it's a very enjoyable and unique sensation. There's probably a little bit of a powertrip in there when she allows you to do this 'taboo' thing to her too.

Well, as already said, the sensation is really good and it's variety. Why not give up fellatio when there is a perfectly good vagina?
