Anyone appreciate hair down there?

Does anyone actually appreciate the presence of, and appearance of pubic hair? After reviewing many of the message posts within this site and hearing from different people in public it seems like everyone is on a mission to end the presence of all bikini hair on earth forever. I find pubic hair to be physically appealing and am especially interested to hear some replies from others within the 20-30 age bracket of which I am a part. I have no issue with maintanence, but find the brazilian method a bit much. I need to know that I am not the only one left who sees value in keeping hair down there. I'm looking for as many posts as possible, please fill me in.

I think we need to distinguish between women shaving legs and armpits and shaving the pubic area. Legs and armpits are visible in public and the tradition of shaving them (at least here in the U.S.) dates back to well before WWII. Shaving of the pubic area is quite a private thing and is relatively new here (probably the last 5-10 years it's become really popular). I wonder how much influence the swimsuit styles have had since the high-cut leg styles became popular in the 90s. Of course these styles are less popular now so that would argue against them being a factor.

As far as Middle Eastern women removing their pubic hair, I wonder if hygiene isn't an issue in an area where water for regular bathing was at a premium. I don't think these women remove hair that much from other parts of their bodies. I know that it's much more acceptable for Middle Eastern men to have several days stubble on their faces, whereas here in the U.S. men are supposed to shave daily.

And personally, INA, while hairless women may be "pretty" , I've always thought women with some hair were sexier and more mature.

-I was mostly referring to body hair in general. With pubic hair being fairly taboo still they normally have to rely on a soft-sell. Although, things may be changing, witness those excruciatingly irritating bikini trimmer ads on ivillage. Things maybe different in Australia right now, I wouldn't know. I would point out that among my university buddies Aussies have a reputation for being pretty bushy down under, lol. Again, I wouldn't know.

Well, porn, in some form, has been around for centuries, too. Maybe the Arabs were influenced by that as well.

I agree with that concept (welcome back to our humble board btw, stranger, lol!)...

...that how we truly view people in regards to what is and is not more attractive--physically--is truly in the eyes of the beholders. For instance, I myself have always been turned on MORE by those women who choose to wear "less" makeup and "less" jewelry.

Those are things I can "see" on pretty much every woman I cross paths with.

When it comes to pubic shaving though, LOL, I still can't bring myself to "wonder" in any way why people do or don't do it, simply because I have no idea who's who unless I have everyone drop their drawers as I walk by just to check them out and wonder if I find their taste acceptable or not...RAOFL!!!

Some day we'll be able to figure out why those who do it are so fascinated with it too I suppose, lol, but what would it matter so long as everybody's happy with their own life and lifestyles. Those who shave and those who don't have people who accept their styles, so to me thats all that really matters its nothing worth "figuring out" since there's really nothing to actually "correct" anyway, IMVHO.

Anyway, great point, taoist. Don't be a stranger! :)

I'm wondering if many women have been shaving for years and just did *not* talk about it, so the only ones that ever knew besides their H was the GYN!

Only got to thinking about this because when I worked at the hospital, my staff were all in their 50s and 60s. And most of *them* said that they'd shaved, some for awhile and some for years, and a couple said once or twice just for the heck of it. And several of them said that they had other friends who had shaved for years. This was probably around 1992 that we had this conversation (I remember because I was pregnant with DS#2 at the time, lol.)

My mom works for the Dept of Public Health and works with several female docs who grew up in India. They said they have always practiced all-over depilatory. One was going back home for a few weeks for a wedding and was finding it hard to locate a place locally that would remove it all, arms and everything. She said it is a sign of wealth, to have the time and money to care for yourself in such a way and show a smooth back and arms in a sari. One of the women said "But what do you do when you have to go for your annual?" and several other American born women (again, in their 50s) spoke up laughingly and said they'd been doing it for years and no doc had ever said a word.

Now I know not *every* woman has done it for years. But could it be that it is just becoming a bit more acceptable to admit that you do it and so it seems like more people are? After all, I shaved for a bit about 15 years ago, and never told a soul. And I would always let it grow back in time for my annual, lol.

I remember that same point being raised numerous times here in the past too. Good catch! ;)

Other than the times people see each other in the locker rooms and all, I can't help but to agree with your inquiry on that because I never saw a reason to share about myself all these years either, LOL! The discussion just simply came up. :)

(Psst...you still gonna be an Orioles fan despite the new DC team now?, lol.)

"you still gonna be an Orioles fan despite the new DC team now?," Oh please, I am a loyal fan -we all are. No fair-weather fans here! I don't run to the new guy on the block just because he's new! I might be interested in their games and team, seeing as how close they are to me, but I'll remain faithful as ever to Luis and Javy and Rafael and the rest ;)

Thanks all of you for participating in my message board. Obviously my question was a popular one as I hoped it might be. For all those who still haven't posted, keep 'em coming! Thanks again.
