I read an internet article recently, implying that men are big liars.
It said about the sex guy Dr Kinsey, who in the 60s did s study on thousands of men to find the average penis size. The thing was, he trusted the men to do it themselves and report the findings back to him. Even though it was purely anonymous, the article was saying that many probably exaggerated. The average in this study came back as 6.4 inches long.
Anyway, more recently, a major condom company has conducted a similar study on roughyl the same number of men, only the main difference is that THEY actually did the measuring. In other words, no chance for lies.
Guess what, it came back as 5.7inches long, proving according to the article, that men are all liars. LOL!
So I'm curious to know what peoples opinions are. What do you guys and girls here think the average length of the male penis is?
Also, at what length can a penis be considered 'big'? I know every woman has their own preferences but I remember looking at a website years ago that was recruiting pornstars (don't ask). They were saying that they would require their male pornstars to be 6 inches long as anything lower wouldn't look big on camera. But is 6 inches the accepted 'big' length?
So my two questions to both men and women, firstly what do you consider the average length to be? second, what length do you consider 'big' to start at?

5.5-6.5??
really i remember the other day you were saying it was 5-6 inches interesting huh??
geez people like to change around things
Ive been told by a couple women thats its impossible to tell the difference between a 5 " penis and an 8" penis while its sliding in and out except if the 8"er is hitting bottom..or the 5 incher is slipping out.....but they can usually tell the difference between a really chubby one and a really thin one.
A 1/2 inch give or take really matters?
Like Tish, I wasn't directing my reply to "you" but to the article. It didn't sound to ME like you were asking anything but an opininon on the article.
The penis size thing comes up a lot, and it gets pretty funny to me.....as someone else said, we're talking in fractions here, and blindfolded, most women wouldn't know the difference between 5 inches and 6 inches. As far as I'm concerned, within reason, size makes no difference, knowledge of what to do with it is the important thing.
It's like women's breasts. I don't think most men really care if they're 34B or 38D, just as long as they're there, and available. There are some poor women who have almost flat chests, but luckily for women, THAT can be fixed. I don't think men are all that impressed with a woman who is 46DDD, either, beyond the "novelty" factor.
Bottom line, a huge penis or huge breasts mean nothing if they're not attached to a person that's "attractive" inside. "Average" (whatever that number might be) is just that.....the size of "most" penises.
To be honest Tish - yes indeed I've had quite a few women ask me if it was OK for them measure my penis size when I was fully erect. They were prepared with a 6" ruler in their purses to do so too when I agreed. Maybe that's unusual for most women to measure their bfs but it's been pretty normal for most women I've known as lovers to want to know specifics about this.
As to what is the average - all the studies done in the USA (from 1946 to present) by urologists show the average penis size is 5.2" long. Same in a recent Italian study and 5.1 in a recent Greek study. All done by MDs and all scientifically valid too. The studies found that one standard deviation was 0.6" - or 66% of all men are within the "average" range of 4.6" to 5.8" long. So if 66% of guys are in the average range - then 17% of guys are shorter than average and another 17% are longer than average. BTW the average circumference of an erect penis has been found to be 4.5 to 5.0" around.
Interesting that the standard deviation is such a small number - i.e. just over half an inch. That means 2/3rds of us guys are very close to each other in size. We may look VERY different in the locker room but when erect (and how many guys have really seen that many other guys erect?) the majority of us are + or - half an inch from the 5.2" mean average. That sure is something to ponder. My wife (a nurse) says that is absolutely true that most of us guys are "about the same length" and she's seen TONS of guys. "The big variable is in thickness - that varies ALOT" she says. Her nurse friends agree.
So, wonder what would have happened if you had been under 6"? Would they have gotten up and walked out?
I can honestly say that I've never measured a penis in my life and I don't know any woman who has! And I would have been offended if my DH had wanted to take my measurements....ANY of them!
That didn't bother
Well I was in my teens and early 20's at the time and I didn't think it was that big of a deal then. In hindsight it was a weird request actually. And to be totally honest I am quite a bit shorter than 6" (I'm in the 17% of guys who are below the average range actually). The response of women (after measuring me and discovering my size) was almost always, "Wow. Isn't that kinda small for a guy? I'm surprised you seem bigger than that to me probably because you feel really good when we make love. Maybe size isn't really as important as some women think. You've sure changed my mind."
