best tool for shaving?

Hi,
I'm in the market for a new shaver; I don't shave completely but pretty much (I leave a strip) and the one I have just isn't cutting it anymore (it's this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000BY85E/qid=1152125428/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-3620146-0853465?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=3760901). I think that's mostly because it's old but it also never really shaved that closely. I was wondering if anyone has something that they can recommend? I'm scared of the ones that rip your hair out (like electric leg shavers) because I think that would be too painful and I don't really have more than $30 to spend but I want something that really takes the hair off, not just cuts it down a lot.
Any suggestions?

No, I don't believe I was. And I would heed a skin professonal's opinion over a survey any day.

Most studies are initiated by the major Razor companies themselves, like Schick and consequently, are designed to benefit them by promoting the higher-priced items they're selling. They make more money that way. I used to do Market Research years ago.

You might also be interested to know that you can purchase MULTI-blade disposables which can be a little pricier but they need NO cleaning since they're thrown away. Ensuring a cleaner, closer shave every time.

Even Shick makes disposables. But no, they aren't all single blade. Mine actually have 2 blades.

But the OP can make her own decision. She can test several and decide which works best for her. Spending lots of money isn't necessary for a smooth shave though. As I said before, I've tried them all over the years and that was my conclusion.

I agree. Multi blade disposables are much better. I have actually tried the schick, they are not my favourite. Venus disposables are pretty good. I still get a much better shave from a bit pricier men's razor, but everyone's skin is different, right? Maybe she could try a cream? You know, the ones that supposedly take the hair off...I personally havn't tried any but that could be an option for someone with sensitive skin or someone who suffers from razor burn.

This is true. Depilatories have never worked for me, personally, but others swear by them.

Looking forward to reading this topic when I saw the head line. However, i waas a little
disappointed to see it getting a little testy over a razor! (Cyber Cat Fight?)
Shaved my wife for the first time about 10 days ago. I was very nervous.
After reading a few posts and getting the link from some one (was it Jazz?) for the site "goingdownfurther",

I bought Coochy Cream from a local penthouse boutique and I bought a Venus Vibrate at Walmart. Worked very well. God was i nervous, my hands were shaking. plan to give it a try again this week

"Cyber Cat fight?" Uh, hardly. It's called a difference of opinion and those can happen on this board. But with no fur flying or scratching involved, hardly a cat fight.

But frankly, I'm not sure what "tool" you CAN shave with other than a razor of some sort.
