I've been wanting to get one for a while, and I thought I was going to have to drive 45 minutes away and pay $80 for it, but I found a place that's 5 minutes away and $45. I'm planning on trying to get in some time the week, but before I go I wanted to get some input on how much I

Standard tipping for anything at all is 15-20%!

I don't know much about the tipping thing; I've never gotten a professional wax job. However, I am a "do-it-yourself-er" and I love it. I had tried those microwaveable ones that they have at Walmart and I didn't like those very well. But then I went to Sally Beauty Supply and bought a waxpot warmer thing, a tub of wax, some strips, some stuff to get the wax off, and some like skin soother for after wax... The total was less than $50. And I'm pretty sure the wax is going to last me for years. I don't know if you can stand to cause yourself pain, but the first time is definitely the worst time. But I love it, definitely, and would recommend it to anyone. Don't know if this would help you at all but... Thought I'd input it anyway! :)

I think you're fine with the standard tip here (15 - 20%, or as Sakura said $7 - $10). If something is inexpensive (like when I get my sons hair cut), or if I'm enjoying discount specials, I tend to tip a higher percent. Since $45 is the standard rate for the wax, I would keep my tip in the normal range.

Let us know how the experience goes.

Well, it started out not too good, I called the place today to try to make an appt. for friday, I guess the lady who does them is only there on Tuesdays. That'd be fine, except I work on tuesdays 2-8 and she only had openings at times while I was at work. I was thinking that I'd have to schedule a month in advance or something, but I thought about it and I know I used to get my eyebrows waxed at this salon that was one of the only ones around, it had tanning rooms and a few little rooms for waxings, I called them and they do them, it's more expensive ($63 vs $45), but they have them whenever. So, I'm set up to go in on Friday afternoon! I'm really nervous, but I'm excited too! I'm not going to tell my boyfriend, last he knew I couldn't get in at the other place, so it'll be a surprise =]

Please let us know! This past year I just started trimming that area, and shaving more on my own. But I have been considering a waxing. I would love to hear about your experience.

If you go to an experienced waxer it is not bad at all. I LOVE having it waxed but unfortunalty I am the kind of person whose hair grows so fast I need a wax every 3 weeks or less and at $60 plus tip it gets costly. I usally reserve it for special times-otherwise,
