I'm not talking about Catholic couples......I'm talking about the Catholic church, and it's teachings. Catholics, like members of most other religions, pick and choose which regulations and teachings to obey or not obey.

The Catholic church DOES approve of one method of birth control.....the Rhythm Method, otherwise known as "Catholic Roulette". "Good" Catholic families are usually large families!

Several previous posters very correctly refused to speak for others and how a majority might or might not feel, instead speaking for themself only. But I'll go out on a limb and answer for the majority, and say it is considered sinful by a majority to view Pornography. NOT because I know their minds, but because I do know the doctrines of even some of the most fringe Christian groups( as well as some of other faiths as well). And virtually none would support its members viewing pornography because it stimulates LUST (if it didnt why would you bother), AND because of the sinfulness of the people and industry making the films.

And having said that, I will MOST STIDENTLY add that this wrong. That SIN is between the individual and God ALONE. If you and your wife are finding benefit to your sexuality and the completeness of your marriage, the positive results are the answer to your question of whethter it is right or not. A LOT of us face guilty feelings over doing something we were raised to believe were wrong. And if we are of faith, and praying for guidance, often that guilt we learned is so strong we cant hear the real answer... that he made us as we are, and life is to be experienced , as long we do so with loving heart and intent.

As for Pornography, if it stimulates and arouses, that is not the LUST you should worry about. The sinful feeling callled LUST is a desire so consuming for a specific person that you would lie and hurt others without reguard, even and especially the object of your LUST, simply to possess that person sexually. If you and your wife are getting positive results in your relationship, that is all the answer you need for whther it is right or wrong.

If you want to ask further, I suggest you track down the websites and forums for people who use the term "Liberated Christians". You'll find very insightful discussion that perhaps will free you of some unwarranted doubts.

>> And here I thought GOD created sex. <<

Unfortunately, this discussion is not about God but about organized religion. Let us not forget that most of the world's terrorists claim to operate in the name of God...

Well, I'm talking about God and his creation, not what man has done to pervert that creation. Any group worshipping God, aliens, bugs, etc. can claim to be an organized religion though.

God created sex to bond and endear, both through procreation and sexual intimacy. So, once that sacred act becomes a business, as it is with pornography, then it becomes something else entirely.

My DH and I have a problem with the business of pornography and how it objectifies people for profit and IMO, sets up unrealistic standards and expectations for real life.

Don't forget that pretty well every combatant and combatant country does that at one time or another. I imagine that the Muslims were a little distressed to see the Christians, who were operating in the name of God, riding over the horizon during the Crusades.

Actually I think that this is the wrong board for this sort of discussion! I'll stick to the sex in religion aspects from now on. :-)

Believe it or not, not everyone is the same...If porn helps create lust , as long as that lust is for each other then it cant be that bad. There is also different kinds of porn... The "new" porn made for women (couples) by women doesnt really objectify anyone..it shows loving couples making love, sharing each others bodies and minds and souls... Its very explicit, but also done very well.... The old time hardcore porns where it was all for the man and the heck with the womans pleasure was really a distorted view of a couples love making. It more resembled what one might think of a player and his one night stand mentality.
Many people are facinated by the sexual act and seeing it. Sex isnt a big secret, there have been zillions of sex acts in human history..But still people are curious to watch, nothing wrong with that, if its done in the right comfounds between consenting adults.
99 9/10`s % of people who watch porn have no ill effects...There is always that miniscule percentage in any population that gets wierd about common things...Dont chastise everyone else for a couple misfits` reactions to something that is supposed to be a beautiful act.
If God made sex then watching it cant be too big of a sin..lol
