It's not so much a matter of "Do I trust the BC?" as a matter of "Do I trust the person that is in control of the BC?".
It's been proven that the contraceptive pill is very, very good. It's also been proven that the biggest problem with it not working is "user error". And that means that mistakes have been made with how and when it's taken, pills are missed, medicines are mixed while on it without asking the Doctor's advice, and guidelines and directions aren't followed correctly.
So being a guy who isn't in control of taking the pill everyday, I have to trust the person that takes it. And if she is following the directions 100% then I think that she should be happy about relying on it as the only form of birth control.
I didn't answer the poll because there are different kinds of BC. If I trust my partner to take the pill correctly, then my answer would be yes. However, I have also had partners use a diaphragm or a sponge. I'll admit I went ahead and came inside with these last two methods, but I didn't feel nearly as secure. I was younger then and willing to take more risks.
I've had a vasectomy since my diaphragm/sponge days, so now I'm good to go. Of course, there's always the chance of an STD, so a condom might still be smart.
