Does anyone know about the FEMALE condom

Ok, I'm new to this board and I was hoping someone could help me.
I am in a commited, monogamous relationship with a man, and we are looking to prevent pregnancy at this time. Previously I was on the birth control pill, but not using any back up method and I ended up getting pregnant. I had a miscarriage, and I am starting use of the birth control patch, however we would like to use another back up method, at least for a while.
We are both free of STDs, and I do not worry that he will stray and I will catch one from him, so the only reason for using a condom is for added birth control protection. I was reading a leaflet from my gyno about different birth control methods and it mentioned the female condom. This is different from the diaphragm and can be bought over the counter without a prescription.
I was just wondering if anyone knew 1)where these could be purchased 2)how hard they were to use and 3)if they were better for the guy than a regular condom? My theory is that since it's not going to be directly wrapped around his member, then he should have more sensation, but am I wrong?
Thanks in advance for any information or advice!

I've used the female condom many times. They can be harder to find, but are located next to the male condoms. They are a bit harder to use in that it's not rolled onto something that sticks out, but must be stuffed inside. And, if desired can be done hours before. As a guy, the female condom feels much better than a male condom. The naked penis gets to move and slide and feel the heat within. The small bottle of lubrication which comes with the female condom is VERY useful to keep the penis happy.
Good luck.
