Dry vaginal area

My boyfriend and I have a great sexual relationship. He's a great guy--inside and out. Last night, during sex... I went dry and could not get lubricated enough for us to continue. It was very embarrassing. I've never had that happen to me. Now he thinks he doesn't satisfy me, which isn't true. On top of that, I'm STILL dry down there!! It hurts to walk because I have no moisture. Can anybody tell me how or why this happened and what I can do about it? Could it be the type of soap I use to wash myself or maybe the type of condoms we use? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure of your age, but the most common cause of vaginal dryness is menopause. Stress and birth control pills can also contribute to it. If you are on BCPs, you may want to look into those side effects.
If it is a regular problem, be sure to drink plenty of water. If you don't want to use saliva for lubrication, there are a lot of fun (and even some tasty) lubes on the market. They are available in most drug stores, and even grocery stores now a days.
Sometimes I have problems with dryness (often at the end of my period), but it doesn't usually last for long. If you continue to have problems, or discomfort, you may want to talk with your doctor just to rule out any other possibilities, or to see if a different BC would be a better choice for you.
