Hey... just a quick question?

What's normal as far as bleeding the first time you have sex? How much is normal?

Thanks so much!

There is no normal, it all depends on the woman.

"Normal" for you may be very different than "normal" for another person. Bleeding is not "normal" but some women bleed. The amounts and duration can be very different for everyone.

It's not clear from your post whether you've done it, and you're bleeding and worried about it, or whether you haven't done it, and are just wondering about it.

If you have done it, or even if you haven't, it would be best for you to make an appt. with your gyno and get checked out. Every female over 18 whether or not they're sexually active should have a gyno, and have annual exams. It's good to have one that knows you, and you know them, and are comfortable with them. If they know you when you're healthy, they will be a better judge of when something is wrong. If you don't have a regular doc, and something is wrong, it's much more difficult to get in to see one.

To answer your question, a little bleeding or spotting isn't abnormal, and it's nothing to worry about. If it's heavy bleeding, and lasts for more than a few hours, then you should have a doctor check it out.

Hey Ashley!

Tish and Dakine are right on. Quick remember from Mrs. Para is that associated with it should be a factor taken seriously as well. If it is an 'ongoing' issue or something to the level of moderately painful...then certainly contact your doc/gyno about it.

Marine, huh?...are you from the Military Wives board too?
