I'm loving it. There is a section on one of the fitness boards in ivillage
http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-fbworkouts/
1/2 way through level 1 and it is getting...I don't want to say 'easier'...I told Mark today that it seems shorter. I'm not barely hanging on to finish every segment. Every once in a while I was actually surprised when she said...ok 3 , 2, 1 stop. Especially the very last cardio.
Calves are much better...need to stretch them more...and I MAY move up to 3lbs weights for chest fly's only. Weight keeps cycling up and down but I expect that. I LOVE that I can see subtle changes already...it really makes me want to do this every day
I definitely had to force myself to continue those first few days but I was very eager to do my workout today
Laura,
It is interesting that you note weight change with your thyroid. My signal is fatigue! My weight over my entire adulthood (except during pregnancy of course) has been fairly consistent and even with a low thyroid I tend to lose easily.
My new goal is to trying to gain a few pounds of muscle and it is SO slow!
When I started really sticking with my cardio exercise in September I could tell I was building muscle and losing fat but the scale stayed the same. After about 4 months I added resistance training and suddenly, I dropped from 111 (my heaviest ever but remember I am short) pretty fast to 106. 11 weeks ago I adding the more serious weight lifting 11 weeks ago and with in 3 weeks dropped to 101. Mind you I eat TONS. With the leaner body I am a shark, constantly feeding and not gain an ounce for more than a minute. Over the past 3 weeks I have been pushing even extra food and slowly cutting back a lot on how much cardio I have been doing. My point here is rest and recovery is JUST as important as the exercise... and lots of good healthy food.
We are a bunch of lean mean fighting machines!!
RJJJ is a perfect example!
Love all you folks for keeping the inspiration going!
"You hit the wall, the wall moves back."
Workout days are when you hit the wall. Rest/recovery days are when it moves back.
It's not my 1st symptom but my body does react rapidly to thyroid changes. My 1st symptom seems to be panic attacks (usually a symptom for hypER but hey) or more accurately "what if" attacks. I also get very fatigued and have a hard time making decisions.
When it went off the other year I noticed that the scale started subtly moving the other way without my eating changing (unless I ate less even) but both my bottom and top number would creep up.
It'll be interesting to see what it does as I get more into this.
Interestingly I was just reading an article about Jillian Michaels that they posted on fitness and SHE is Hypothryoid too.
There was a link to an interesting article on the fitness board that showed something similar on smaller scale.
I don't remember exactly what it was but it was something about cardio workouts being more effective if you do intense 30 sec bursts follow by 4 min rest for 6 reps...that was as effective as a steady 90 -120 min workout.
Added a 10 min Pilates ab workout today PLUS took my 2 lb weights on my walk for more strength work.
YAY.
DH working so it is "good girls" night out. Manicures/pedicures and a good dinner -maybe some food will be involved with the liquid.
;-)
But you did miss us this time. Next time I will give more advanced notice.
