Em,
Good for you! The first 15-20 minutes of any cardio is always a killer for me. Once the body warms up and those lovely endorphins kick in, I can go on and on. I think that is why I love the cardio, I get no rush from the weights.
I agree about focusing on the "core". I do try to remember that no matter what I do.
Have a great week, I read somewhere you will be away. I hope it is a fun trip.

Steve, I think that is true for exercise or everyday activity here in New England in the fall. Layers layers layers.
I have noticed the humidity change to be the biggest difference when I work out. It seems I sweat less this time of year but I think it is really that it evaporates better.
I saw the later messages about stretching, and I will have to check out some of those books.
I didn't have any problem keeping my heart rate up on the steep incline at a slow pace -- and the sweat was pouring off me. Even at my peak of fitness, I rarely set the incline higher than 12 and lately it's been more like a maximum of 8, so the 15 was a killer.
Today, I did 20 minutes on the elliptical, 25 on the treadmill and 15 on the stationary bike. I was right about the elliptical machines at my gym -- the grips are a good 2 inches lower than on the newer machines. Not only that, but the pedals are closer to the frame in the front, so if I'm not careful my knees hit the frame. They have a few newer machines on order that they'll swap out. I guess they've gotten a lot of complaints.
