Hairy or shaved chests on men??

I have been dating a guy who is in great shape. Although he does not have much chest hair to begin with he shaves his chest smooth about once a week and I LOVE IT! Also he does his forearms and that smooth sleek look drives me wild! Plus he trims neatly in other places to. I am addicted to this look and feel.
My old BF chest was so hairy it was disgusting!

Any thoughts on this topic?

Okay, so speaking from the "hairless" generation (age 20), I personally hate it when guys shave their chests or arms and don't understand why nearly all my friends like their guys to shave. I guess it's just a masculinity thing for me. And physically I love running my fingers through it or feeling it against me. As for pubic hair, it is kinda nice not to "floss while eating," but I could really care less. In the end, it's who's attached to it.

You're absolutely right. Humans used to be much hairier, almost like a pelt all over. Nothing like today's hairiest man. The same study shows that eventually (over the long haul of evolution) humans will be relatively hairless.

Ha! Imagine that! Someday our descendants will be paying to have hair transplanted or attached somehow to chests and pubic areas, just to be 'different'!!!

Wow, I sense hostlity in some replies. Just because I like a mans body with less hair is no reason to get bent of out of shape. I like the way a Mens Health cover guy looks, what is wrong with that?

I've been with my girl for almost 2 and half years now, and she's ALWAYS told me not to shave my chest. I'm still relatively young (20) and I didn't have any hair on my chest until maybe the last few months. When she noticed a few hairs growing in she told me not to shave or do anything. She says that she doesn't want me to shave because she hates the feeling of when it starts growing back so she said to not do it at all.

But at the same time I kinda want to but I don't. I want to because I personally don't like how it looks. But at the same time it would mean that I would have to shave regularly in order to keep it looking right. And another thing, I don't just have hair on my chest, I have a little hair on my lower back and tiny little hairs all over my upper body. If I start shaving my chest, I mind as well shave my whole upper body so that it's completely smooth all over. I don't think I'm ready for that kind of maintenance so I think I will keep it the same.........for now

Forgive me for being a little more direct than you may be comfortable with, everybody...but I feel like I'm reading comments from Caucasians regarding this topic.

It just me how people out there can turn around and view hair as masculine or feminine or whatever, when certain cultures out there just don't 'normally' have as much hair in the first place.

For example, my particular rich African ancestry was NOT known for having chest or forearm hair, so are we less masculine or feminine now or contributing to a new trend or whatever??? I guess I'm just not the type that'll care whenever others choose styles that are more different from my own...but thats just me.

Yes, any sport that requires speed, like professional biking, swimming, marathoners, etc., an athlete will shave all exposed body hair to decrease drag. Lance Armstrong does. A second lost to drag can mean winning or losing a race.

I guess if a regular guy likes the look and feel of no hair on his body, then it's a choice.

Is this one of those things that we have a choice on? Hair or no hair? DH is very hairy. He has hair everywhere, even on his back, his stomach(his is not a trail leading to anything it's more like a forest tee hee)...he's even got hair on his derriere. ;-) There is literally not a spot on him that is hairless. I don't think he's disgusting at all....he's just a man who happens to have a lot of hair. I love it too, because it's a part of who he is. It's not something he can control, and even if he could, for him, it would be very high maintenance and a painful procedure to remove all of it. He's never voiced a dislike of it himself. He accepts that this is how God made him and he's very comfortable in his skin....which is why he's sexy to me.

I wonder what the evolutionary result of the boob enhancement craze will yield...smaller breast sizes?

It's amazing how peer pressure can have an effect on a teenager's decisions. It probably explains the current craze of teenage girls who are getting their breasts done...only it's not something that they can grow back....it's surgery...scary.
