The term "masturbation" usually refers to "self stimulation"! When a woman's clitoris or a man's penis is stimulated by another person, it's called "foreplay", whether that person is the same sex, or the opposite sex.

I know that you used the word "usually" in your statement, but just to clarify for others, stimulation is only considered foreplay if it is a prelude to intercourse. Here's information about masturbation from wikipedia:

"Masturbation refers to sexual stimulation, especially of one's own genitals and often to the point of orgasm, which is performed manually, by other types of bodily contact (except for sexual intercourse), by use of objects or tools, or by some combination of these methods. Masturbation is the most common form of autoeroticism, and the two words are often used as synonyms, although masturbation with a partner (mutual masturbation) is also common. Animal masturbation has been observed in many species, both in the wild and in captivity."

Mutual masturbation information from wikipedia:

"Non-penetrative sex (also known as outercourse) is sexual activity without vaginal, anal, and possibly oral penetration, as opposed to intercourse. The terms Mutual masturbation and Frottage are also used, but with slighlty different emphases.

No bodily fluids are intended to be exchanged, and outercourse is therefore often considered a practice of safer sex as well as of birth control (see below for exceptions). Outercourse in preparation for intercourse can form part of foreplay."

Foreplay information from wikipedia:

"In human sexual behavior, foreplay is a set of intimate psychological and physical acts between two or more people meant to increase sexual arousal. Foreplay takes place before sexual intercourse or another act meant to induce mutual sexual gratification or orgasm."

"Direct manipulation of naked erogenous zones is not considered foreplay when it is not preparatory for further sexual acts. For example, mutual masturbation and oral sex are often considered final sexual acts; as final acts with no expectation of further sexual congress, these are not considered foreplay."
