Have you ever gotten wet during a gynocological exam?

  • No, there's nothing sexy about it.
  • Only once, and it was embarrassing.
  • Only once, but I wasn't embarrassed.
  • A few times, and it was embarrassing.
  • A few times, but I wasn't embarrassed.
  • Most of the time, and it's embarrassing.
  • Most of the time, but I'm not embarrassed.
  • Almost always, and it's embarrassing.
  • Almost always, but I'm not embarrassed.

I don't think anyone meant to "attack" you....but it's just so ludicrous to think about. Women don't "get wet" unless they're sexually aroused, and unless they've got the "hots" for the doctor, that's NOT going to happen during a pap test. (I agree with Tish, whoever told you that was confused about the "wet". It was lube....most docs do it so fast they don't even know it's being used unless they notice it on the tray before he does it.)

And, I have news for you. As UNcommon as a woman being aroused......it's very common for men to get erections during exams if it's a woman doctor. Or, if they're hospitalized and have a female nurse give them a bed bath. Not to worry. Doctors and nurses have seen it a million times, and they totally ignore it. It's just male physiology, and it happens.

Even with the hot doctor, it's just not the right kind of stimulation.

Hey Johnny,

I hear ya. I don't think that there's a crowd mentality here, though. Actually, the great majority of people here are intelligent, helpful and considerate. Just that when perhaps someone new comes, it takes a little time to establish trust.

The fact that this is a predominately female board (with many male participants), makes that fact all-the-more true.

I just don't think people were necessarily certain of a guy's motivations in asking this. If I were on a predominately male board and a woman came on and began a poll about whether men get turned on when a doctor tests him for a hernia or enlarged prostate, I might question whether or not she's a little pervy.

I might also think whomever posted the inquiry is not appreciative of the solemn nature of a medical procedure, and that connecting it in any way to something pleasurable like sexual feelings, is being unappreciative of its actual purpose.

Best,

E :)

Dakine,

I've never been given a sponge bath by a female nurse/orderly. I've actually been quite fortunate to have never needed a stay in a hospital.

I have, however, been given a digital exam by a female doctor. And my single, solitary thought at the time was a desperate "PLEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSEEE HURRY UP!!!!!!!!!!" Which, by the way, is the same exact thought I have when a male doctor performs the procedure on me!

E :)

No. I have never been sexually aroused at the GYN. You get inserted with an ice cold speculum doused in cold lubricant for about 1 minute or less and you feel a slight pinch where the uterus is being scraped. There's nothing sexual about it at all. Even when your GYN gives you a breast exam, there's nothing sexual about it. Now....perhaps if the examination included actually touching the clitoris, then I could see a physiological response similar to the erection of the penis. But, I guess it could happen. I'm sure that there are very attractive GYN doctors out there and if you have a crush, you're going to get aroused when you see him, period. tee hee

As far as mammograms. Those are definitely barbaric. The pain is excruciating. But the good thing is, when you're about at the breaking point and about to scream, they release....ahhhh ;-)

I started not to post at all on this one, but thought I would add my two cents. Post like this only point out how little we know about the opposite sex. I had a digital rectal exam in my late 20's or early 30's and did get an erection. I turned a little red, but passed it off as normal and that she was not trying to turn me on, it just happened, and I assume it will happen again when I am older and need them on a regular basis.

Yes, men will often get erections in stressful, embarrassing situations though. It's called the "foxhole reaction" I believe. However, it's not really a sexual reaction, but a stress reaction.

And I have many medical professionals in my family who have told me that that's the case. Women, on the other hand, do not react to stress the same way, generally, and a gyno exam is something you dread, not anticipate. I don't care how hot your gyno may be!

A cold, clinical exam isn't the least bit sexy or erotic to most people though.

I think the question was somewhat ill advised, or badly worded, on a predominantly female board, and I can understand how a doctor's exam table is not sexy, but you do have to understand that as men, we don't have the ability to separate our sexual organs from sexual feelings and arousal the way that most women can. As a man, to be slightly crude, the only time I or someone else touches my penis when it's not sexual is when im urinating or washing, whereas women, have to be on a bit more familiar footing on a regular basis with their sexual organs. The analogy of a prostate exam is not quite a valid one, because the male rectum or prostate isn't the main male sex organ. I can almost guarantee you that if there were an exam where the penis was examined, and there were a female doctor involved, the majority of men would probably get an erection, if for no other reason than physiology as has been mentioned before. I don't use that example to assume that women would get aroused during a gyno exam, I'm merely pointing out the difference between men and women when it comes to sexual response, women have more of an ability to separate sexual arousal from their sexual organs and physical stimulation. I guess what I'm trying to say is that while I really wouldn't expect most women to become aroused during a gynocological exam, I would have to say that I, and probably many other guys, don't really quite understand the physiology of it, as we are just built differently. So while I probably wouldn't have asked the question, I doubt I'm the only guy that was curious and clicked on this thread to see the answers. It just seems that some of the women that replied to this were astounded and even slightly offended that all men wouldn't know that the answer is soundly in the negative, when this subject is really pretty much a gray area for most men, and not necessarily easy for us to understand because of biological differences. Anyhow, I hope I didn't offend anyone and that I'm not considered pervy now for replying to this thread...lol ;)

I completely understood and appreciated your comments. But it seems that you are commenting under the assumption that the vagina is the counterpart to the penis and the main female sex organ for arousal. It isn't. The clitoris is.

And other than a visual evaluation during a routine exam, unless there is a specific problem or injury that needs to be addressed, the clitoris is not touched or examined quite as closely as the vagina.

So, if a woman's clitoris was manipulated, and it's owner was physically attracted to her dr., as has been mentioned, she COULD become aroused by the stimulation but not likely in that setting.

While I have never gotten anywhere near aroused when being examined, I have to say that one of my favorite fantasies involves such a thing: and then goes on from there!
