well I just had sex for the first time with my new boyfriend. I am a very nervous person when it comes to sex because I do not want to become pregnant. For one I have huge plans for myself. Well anyways I wanted to know if after your first time are you usually late to have your period.

Thanks

That's a myth I've never heard.

No, it's not true.

First time sex has nothing to do with your period being late. It could be late because you're scared and nervous......that can definitely make it late. The only other thing that could make it late would be if you're pregnant. If you're using birth control, and/or he used a condom, it's unlikely that you could be pregnant. To allay your fears on that, you should get a pregnancy test to set your mind at ease.

If you don't want to get pregnant, then, as Tish says, get yourself on birth control, then you don't have any worries. Also remember that even if you're on birth control, that doesn't protect you from any number of STD's......and that can be more devastating than an unwanted pregnancy. Make sure he always uses a condom, if he doesn't, don't have sex with him.

The only way a late period could be caused by first time sex would be if the girl was so stressed as to send her body into somersaults. Emotional distress CAN cause delayed period; the sex itself cannot.
