Hickies-Aren't we too old for this?!

I'm really frustrated. Both my boyfriend and I are "over 30". On Saturday we were together and we made love. After we were done he looked at me in disbelief. Apparently he had given me a hickie on my neck. I had no clue. He wasn't sucking on my neck or doing anything out of the ordinary. I went to look in the mirror and this thing is huge! Two days later, it is still there. Thank goodness I have no where to be today but I'm frustrated and somewhat angry. Aren't we too old for this? You hear about hickies with teenagers, but I've never heard of adults having this problem. No amount of makeup will cover this thing up, it's just that red and big. Forget a scarf or turtleneck, it's about 80 degrees outside.

I'm not really mad at him for it, it's not like he intentionally did it, but I'm upset because I feel like he put me in a situation I don't want to be in. I can't leave the house!!! LOL

I don't want to sound like I am picking on your BF, but he DID mean to do it. You have to intentionally suck on someone to create a hickey. He had to have known that what he was doing atleast had the potential to create one. If you have a hickey that is that huge, then I am sorry but I believe it to be intentional. The reason it happens in teenage years is that it's a way to show you are sexually active, kind of like marking your partner. Adults don't do it(usually) because it is an immature thing to do and they grow out of it. If he must do it, tell him to do it where your clothes will cover.

~~~ He wasn't sucking on my neck or doing anything out of the ordinary. ~~~
I'm wondering if it's not a hickey and possibly a bruise??
Do you bruise easily?
When was the last time you had your blood checked?
Maybe you have low iron?
Maybe this something you want to bring to your doctor's attention?
I don't know.. If someone was sucking on my neck.. I think I'd know it..
And you stated that he wasn't. So, I'm wondering if it could be something
else.
Have you noticed any other bruises?
A Hickey is a bruise, from broken blood vessels. You two must get really carried away during sex if he didn't know he did it, and YOU weren't aware that he did it! I find that almost too hard to believe. It takes some effort to do it, and it does hurt a little for the receiver.
Is it possible that it happened in some other way? (I can't imagine HOW!) If you do bruise easily, as the other poster suggested, I'd say you should have it checked out by a doctor.
I honestly was not aware he was giving me a hickey. Yes, I do bruise fairly easy, but there's usually a reason (like I walked into a table or something!). He probably was nibbling and sucking on my neck but more so than he realized. This isn't the first time he's given me a hickie, but this is definitely the worst one. When I see him coming for my neck in the future, he will definitely be pushed away!! :) Even though he says he didn't know, like you all said, he HAD to know what he was doing.
I understand the embarrassment, but I think hickies should be worn proudly at any age! :)
Ok, I'm 38 and I've had a few over the past few years. I'll admit it. Not that I *want* them, but sometimes it's happened and I didn't realize he was sucking my neck so hard in the middle of it all. I'm not crazy about them and I don't like to show them off, but I had to laugh a couple of years ago when my BIL stopped by to visit one evening and happened to see my neck. He looked at DH (his brother) with this big "You da man!" look on his face.
My partner bruises fairly easily but she never ends up with hickeys. I'm sorry, he did know that he was giving it to you. He might be all grown up now but there must be some little boy in there somewhere that enjoys doing it. Especially if he has done it in the past to a greater or lesser degree. He knows what he was doing! LOL!
Proudly? They're totally immature, and they're like a dog peeing on his territory!
>>I understand the embarrassment, but I think hickies should be worn proudly at any age! :)<<
For some of us, YES, LOL!! For others, maybe not.
When the Mrs. & I are goin at it, sometimes a little...something...during necking will cause a jerky type of reaction that may leave a little bruise at times. Heck, we've still got bruises on other parts of bodies too, LOL!! Just get carried away I guess, we're guilty. ;D
I have NO problem whatsoever with being "branded" as hers. I myself just couldn't show it off enough for my own liking anyway, lol! If people get the impression that our marriage is still fun and wild because of a little bruise here or there, then by all means!, LOL!!
