I have been married for over 20 years now and my husband and I think he may have ED. He is 47 years old and taking antidepressants. Can that cause ED? How is it diagnosed and treated? Thank you

These problems are diagnosed and treated by an MD with a speciality in genitourology.  Your family dr should be able to refer you.

Turkeyplease-

ED basically means a man has an ongoing problem getting or maintaining an erection. If your husband is having repeated trouble getting it up, then by definition, he has ED. Antidepression medication meanwhile is known to have an adverse effect on sexual function. Maybe a different medication can be tried. Your husband should consult his doctor.

Many Antidepressants have qualities that cause temporary ED.  It may get better as his body adjusts or not.  Get viagra or cialis and problem solved.

Start with his cell phone. Be sure the problem isn't OW before you start looking into ED.

There are a myriad of reasons men have ED.  Also don't think if it as something permanent since most men have it in their lifetime.  An MD will probably have a test that is basically subjective since erection issues are not like a light switch on and off.  Anti depressants can cause this as well as OTC medications, stress, diet, diabetes, high blood pressure, hormones.  The list goes on.  So I suggest as the other to see an MD on this. If you can't, at least eliminate what you know does not cause it in your life.
