thank you...

Oh trust me, those hormones don't work on everyone - woman or man. I suffer from chronic migraines and I have been steady on two prescriptions that seem to be working for the moment (although I just started on them July 27). I take one 12mg Vioxx every night (since I am prone to wake up to them) and Relpax (I don't know the dosage) for breakthrough headaches. The Vioxx is supposed to be a preventative to keep me from even getting the migraines and the Replax to treat the 'breakthrough' ones. S ofar, every day I take the max of the Relpax (two tablets) and they stop, but only after. If the Vioxx doesn't put them into remission by the end of this month, then it's catscan time for me. I have done EVERYTHING to get rid of the things. Next step is to see if it's a problem in the brain - oh I hope they go into remission. But, from me taking the max medicine every day, I doubt they will. Just a little reassurance for ya - BC hormones don't do it all for all!

Roger Dodger! In fact, not only did following "standard procedure" for preventing migraines never work, but I even went to see the "brain boys" in Ft. Gordon outside of Augusta, GA. Scans actually revealed nothing back then, and this was way back in the mid 1980s!!

Only reason why no further neurological testing is being done these days is because the pain hasn't gotten worse, that was the excuse they gave seeing that an actual tumor would have caused worse pain throughout the years. ANYone thats familiar with classic migraine though would just solemnly swear that it couldn't get worse anyway...right?...LOL!!...ouch.

im am so sorry to hear that you also suffer from headaches... i have also tried OTC drugs and of course nothing worked... the docs have given me all of the RX drugs also, but nothing helps. they say Imitrex is very good, there is a nasal spray as well as a pill, although neither of them worked for me, you might want to look into it. im sure there is something that will ease the pain, if not make it go away! i know what your feeling, my migraines last hours.... and nothing at all helps... but since ive been on this pill, they dont come as often. i am so greatful to finally find some relief. and im sure you can too! it just takes some time to find it... and experimentation...

good luck and i hope you find something that help you!

That's what you would think! But actually, mine have gotten severly wosre within the past couple of months - imagine that! And that is what made me finally make the docotr's appointment. I have been having migraines for the past two years and taking Excedrine Migraine sufficed. It didn't get rid of them, but it took off the edge. That was the last headache medicine I was willing to try before a doctor's visit as I had previously tried everything in the book. But when one headache laid me in bed for three days and didn't go away for let up for three weeks, I finally picked up the phone. If they don't go away, I am going to get a second opinion though. As I said, I have had these things forever and have thought of and tried everything to see what could be causing them and came up empty handed still. I cut out all caffine (not that there was much to bring with, maybe one soda a day), cut my hair to above shoulder length, made sure I got enough sleep, got too much sleep, got not enough sleep, quit eating chocolate, quit eating frozen entrees, lowered my intake of processed foods in general...I mean, you name it, I've tried it. When I was talking to my doctor and he asked about SOME of the above mentioned stuff, and I told him this and that, he seemed offended that I already knew what he was recommending!! I didn't interupt or anything, politely waited for him to finish and then told him I have done that already. He just got on my nerves and if they don't go away, I am going to antoher doctor. He was pissed because I didn't just go running to the doctor and I actually tried to figure out what was causing them beforehand. Oh well, too bad for him.

"Time" did you say? LOL!! I agree with that, leona, its been over 20 long years putting up with these things multiple times every week. ;)

Would you believe that the neurologists even suggested that I may simply be over-sensitive to barometric changes?? Its been THAT bad. I'm surviving just fine, but a pain is a pain, LOL!!

As far as "relief" goes, OF COURSE I'll admit that Mrs. Para was the cure God sent me years ago, LOL!!...of COURSE! Now I can only say that obviously during sex, but once its over for a few hours, that "knife" returns straight to the right side of my head again...ouch! And YES its impeded with sex many many times too. :(

Oh well...I'm still healthy according to doctors and Mrs. Para, lol, so thats what matters.

;)

Ooooooh yeah, there are DEFINITELY arrogant people like that in almost every aspect of the medical profession. I hear ya loud and clear.

Okay, the latest I've heard regarding what we ingest: sulfites.

Yes yes we've all heard of it by now, but the medical field is really putting some serious research into whether or not this could play a role in severe and migraines anyway. I can't wait to find out more about that. I've actually tried to avoid what I could that contains the stuff, but didn't really notice a difference yet. Its easy for someone like me to avoid it because my wife just happens to be allergic to the stuff, LOL, so all I have to do is eat and drink the same stuff she does. :)

Making this sex related though, I am definitely the type who suffers from those things after sex every now and then. Many posts on different message boards in the past claimed that the most intense orgasms (and with Mrs. Para, I REALLY have those quite often, LOL) actually cause that in almost everyone. Now I've always heard people here and there swear that they don't know what I migraine is, LOL. So either these 'claimers' were making 'extreme' guesses, or those non-migrainers have no clue what an exploding climax is quite yet, RAOFL!! Obviously I'm leaning toward the first one, hee heee.

AGREED! LOL Definately worse after mind blowing orgasms, or just really great sex in general.

I'm curious, what kind of food do you recommend with the sufites info you provided? Furthermore, (I was unsure which way you were going) do you suggest we ingest more or less?

Okay, first of all, I'm not even sure this sulfite thing is an issue regarding in the first place, lol. Last I heard, its still being researched. Its a theory, I suppose, based on the fact that it DOES cause other complications with those who negatively react to it, such as Mrs. Para does.

In any rate, for those that DO react to it negatively, they would obviously be inclined to products with sulfites. Here's a few links about it:

http://allergies.about.com/cs/sulfites/a/aa020199.htm

http://www.the-starshadow.com/Sulfites/bad_list.htm

http://www.paintedrocks-winery.com/sulfites.htm

Now keep in mind that sulfites are also used in products other than food and drink. For example, Mrs. Para simply CANNOT tolerate the use of bleach products that contain the stuff. Just the fumes alone nearly suffocated her one time. Found that out the hard way! :(

Its interesting study. Maybe someone will find the links useful.
