Is it worth it?

So, if you're like me, you've benefited GREATLY from this board and are glad its available.

Now, question is: Would you "pay" to participate on a board like this?

Even if there were other's available, would they even come close to the value you feel you'd keep getting from a board like this one? Normally, I myself would 'never' pay for something like this, but after the help I've received and seen others receive, I think I'd change my tune.

How 'bout the rest of you?

Last I was aware, iVillage didn't support overseas paid memberships. However, even if they did, I couldn't afford the exchange rates.

That being said, in theory only, I think I would pay about $20 per year for membership. Probably no more.

The short answer is 'No'.

The longer answer is that I think that you can pay for the advanced features available on this board, don't you? I've never checked it out because it smelled like money even at a distance and basic formatting and a boring signature suited me just fine.

I have issues just signing onto boards like this - so no I wouldn't pay. But I have to tell ya, this board (and all the others) are great. Doesn't matter how many out there are telling the truth - fact is they make us think, rearrange our thoughts, and make us laugh and somedays that's all each one of us needs. So THANK YOU IV - for allowing such a fun board(s)!

I'm sure it won't change your mind.....

As a paid member you are also get about 5 messages loading on one page, so instead of clicking through each message, you can just scroll down. Saves loads of time when reading lengthy threads.

Oh, and if you're a CL, you get the advanced stuff for free. As long as you don't mind putting in the time and holding your tongue. Tough job for some of us ;-)

I would most likely pay but depending on how much they're talking.

Same here, Westie. If I had to pay to share my concerns, problems, thoughts and opinions on a message board, then I'd probably just pay a professional. ;D

Thanks for the replies all. I was wondering if you found a board like this , especially for those like me who do find the info rather useful from time to time, seeing that I just don't know it all.

I wasn't wondering if you'd pay to be an actual IVillage member, but would you pay to be part of a board if you found it as helpful as some of us actually do.

If I, for example, had the time to fire off a zillion posts on something similar to IVillage, then I'd probably have to admit that I'd find it too useful to cough it up simply because there was a small memebership fee I guess.

If the fee was only 4.95/month of something like that, I think I'd consider it actually. The resources are SUPER for so much ranging from sex to business to health to parenting to you name it. Sure, I could find those things separately somewhere out there, but after sampling the resources and poster advice here, for example, then yes, I think I'd actually do it...no big deal.

Don't forget that while many of us regulars would be happy to pay the fee, so much of what you read on these boards is posted by newbies and one-time-only posters looking for answers to a single spur of the moment question. The ratio of one-off posters to regular posters must easily be 100:1. Without free membership there'd be no-one posting questions and nothing to discuss.
