Many times these boards are for all purposes not available because the pages either do not load, or take over a half-hour to load, or no page is available. Other notice? What's up?

I've noticed that from time to time in the past, but they seem okay tonight. Are you having problems?

I haven't been having a problem. I do have a cable modem though. I used to have some problems loading some pages when there were too many graphics or pictures, but no problems at all in a long time!

I was having problems several days ago. I think it had more to do with my slow internet connection than anything else. Sometimes it also helps to empty your cookies and temporary files. If you don't do that regularly, it can start to slow your computer down.

I haven't had any problems of late.

Before I got cable, I had to clear my temporary internet files every day, or I had the same problems.

The only real problem I noticed is that using the IE7 the java apps that the boards work on doesn't load the first time I go to the board. I just hit the refresh button though and it loads right up. After that everything works pretty good.

You may want to make sure you have the newest versions of java from Java.com although if you have automatic updates turned on in windows it should keep you updated.

Another thing you can try is using the Firefox browser from Mozilla.com . I haven't tried to load the messageboards with Firefox yet but some sites I find it works better than Internet Explorer (IE).

I use Firefox as my default browser, and generally prefer it, although I find iVillage to be very unfriendly towards browsers other than IE... you lose all the fancy formatting controls, and have to type HTML codes manually to format a post.

Sometimes I have that problem - depends on your time zone I suspect. As the servers for the boards are probably based in the USA, and because maintenance is usually done in the wee hours, I sometimes have problems because I've 13 hours away on the other side of the world. It's not uncommon for me to post at maintenance time.

LOL .. what fancy formatting controls?!? Since I use the free option here I don't get that. At least I assume that is why I don't get any option for formatting. Not that I have ever looked.

But it doesn't surprise me though that Firefox doesn't work well with ivillage. Some java apps just don't work as well in Firefox ... yet.
