Welcome to the board, malabi.

I voted "no", but I see how that might be a helpful tactic for single women.

I was always the queen of being polite and then giving a fake phone number. LOL, back then, there weren't any cell phones, so they couldn't even check the number out until they were far away from me.

I never understood women giving fake phone numbers. Why not just tell the guy that you have a boyfriend (whether you do or not)?

Sometimes you just want to have fun for that evening, without ending up in the sack. So, if you're out in a club, and having a good time, it can be fun to flirt, dance, joke and all. That's all part of getting to know someone, but it's also all part of just wanting to have a good time for the evening. If you've enjoyed your evening, but you're not looking for more, then it's one way to handle that situation without being rude or ruining his evening.

Women also have to think about their own safety sometimes. Ticking some guy off who has been drinking isn't always a good idea, especially if he thinks he was making some sort of headway throughout the evening. If you've only spent a couple of hours with someone, especially someone that you've just met, you really don't know what they're capable of. There are guys who try to become very forceful when they see that their evening might be coming to an end.

Yes, it's an easy way to avoid a potentially awkward conversation. During a "girls day out"
