LADIES - vaginal discharge every day?

hi
i am a 17 year old girl
and ever since the age of about 13
ive been getting a white/yellow creamy discharge in my knickers
every day without fail.

i only started my periods a few months ago, when i was 16, and i thought the discharge would stop but it didnt.

the only days i dont get discharge are the few days every few months when i am on my period.

is there something wrong with me?

has it got something to do with my sex life? - i lost my virginity a few months ago though

what can i do to stop/combat it?

should i see a doctor or is it completely normal?

thanks x

Hello mils,

I am 19 and I have had the same problem as well! I have had discharge since I started my period and for the most part I still do! I am not sure if it is a good or bad thing. Misty should get with you sson and let you know! Maybe I will learn something as well!

Hey mils-
I think it's pretty normal for young women to have a discharge on a regular basis. I am 26 and I have a discharge often, I have asked a few older people I know and they said they did when they were younger. This thread may help you a little:

I remember having what seemed like constant discharge when I was younger. Sometimes it felt a bit slimy and other times it was more yellow. As I have aged, I usually only have discharge when ovulating.

From what you have explained, it doesn't seem like a problem -- as it is consistent and normal for you. Becoming sexually active shouldn't change things. However, since you are sexually active, you should see a gyn. Having a yearly exam will help you stay healthy, and you can always ask about things like changes in discharge.

It's completely normal. It's "cleaning" your vagina. As with everything else in life, we're all different. For some women it's lighter, for some it's heavier. Your vagina is "self cleaning", and that's what you're seeing. If it should ever get thicker, or different colored, or have a bad odor or start itching or burning, then you need to see your gyno, because that's a sign of an infection. NOT an STD.....just an infection, which women can get as they reach puberty. But you need medications to cure it.

As Misty said, all females, once they become sexually active should be seeing their gynecologist annualy, for a general checkup and a pap test. Get to know your gyno, and you can ask them questions like this, and they can explain things to you. Take care of your health by seeing your doctor annually.
