I get this slightly too. It just feels like his cum is radioactive! In particular, my gums sometimes get a wierd feeling. I just figure it's because the stuff is very much alive -- it's like swallowing tons and tons of really tiny live goldfish!

Hi Jewel1976,

Does your boyfriend take any drugs? I don't mean illegal ones, but any OTC or prescription drugs that he may be taking regularly. Many metabolites of drugs or even chemicals from the environment can be transported across the barrier between the blood and the testis. Some of these metabolites might be capable of inducing a feeling numbness in the mouth, even if the original drug does not cause this to occur. The ability of a chemical to cross this barrier depends on its structure and electrical properties. This may not be the cause at all, but many metabolites of ingested chemicals do end up in the seminal fluid. Think about it. Has there ever been a time that the semen may have tasted different because of eating a certain type of food or drinking a particular beverage? Sorry for all the science talk. I'm a physiologist, so I sometimes can't help it. I just thought you'd like to know that what goes into the body can end up in body fluids other than blood and urine.

Did youe BF come in contact with any spermicide? Such as a condom that has spermicide lubricant or did you spermicide film, foam, jelly, etc? Spermicide makes my mouth go a little numb.

It could also be from being too rough as well, but normally spermicide seems to do the trick every time...lol

I can tell you mine doesn't... he'll be running a fever, and lying in bed, tellin gme he wants to die, and I'll get him tylenol or ibruprofen or a decongesttint, whatever, and he'll refuse to take it. "WHY?! you feel bad! take it!!!" I shriek. "NOOOOO, drugs are bad." he whines. Every friggin time. It drives me nuts. He wont even take tylenol. I bribed him once...(you dont wanna know with what, ;) LOL ) and got him to take 1/2 of a 200mg of tylenol.... (roll eyes...) that's once. In the last YEAR. It was early on in our relationship and has never been repeated. I dont get the drug horror he has, in addition to the numbing semen.

LOL koodos for the goldfish comment!!!! LOL I'll pass that on to .. everyone I know!!!

auntyem4,

I don't know what his fear of drugs is about. He may actually have to take some prescription drugs at some point in his life. I don't really think that all these guys with "numbing cum" are taking any drugs. I just wanted to put out the information because we don't normally think about what may be in a person's body fluids, especially during sex. It's funny, the questions on this message board sound so much like the ones I get from my nursing students when I'm teaching reproductive physiology and sexually transmitted diseases. I think I became a member because I could not resist trying to help people learn more about how their bodies work and possibly dismiss some fallacies. Hope your boyfriend/husband gets over his fear of ibuprofen. I use that stuff so much, I call it vitamin M (Motrin).

Do you think that he may be using one of those creams that some guys use that numbs their penis so that they will last longer? I've also seen condoms that have been treated those kinds of creams. Since they're essentially a mild local anesthetic, if you got some on your lips or tongue it might make them feel numb.

Thanks everyone

What is this big thing about not using OTC drug when needed, my BF will NOT ever use anything. He has been suffering with bad allergies and now we are both suffering because he will not use anything. All he does is complain that he is feeling awful and that he is going to die. What a drama Queen!!! Poor baby but I need to get some sleep before I become the evil girlfriend. He is going fishing with the boys this weekend so a nice break for me and a transfer of suffering to the boys.
