muscle cramps in hip during sex

I'm delurking to ask a question. I have been experiencing muscle cramps in my left whenever I'm on top. It always occurs just as I'm climaxing and I have to stop. I used to be able to work through and continue on but not anymore. I was born with hip dysplasia that was treated, but I still have less flexibility than most women. I'm hoping the people here can make some suggestions for positions that will allow me to orgasm without being on top or if you know of suggestions for stretches or something that would allow me to avoid the cramping that would be great too. My DH has allways been understanding, but I know it can't be fun knowing that your wife is in pain during sex.

I suffer from hip pain, too, but it's not arthritis or from dysplasia but from inflammation of the ligaments and soft tissue. I do squats every day to stay limber, as part of an overall exercise routine.

And stretching is very important to keeping those muscles and ligaments supple which means I can get in whatever position I choose. Using those muscles daily may be the key to being able to get through your orgasm on top. You might try getting into a Pilates program which emphasizes stretching using your own body weight or buying a pilates machine. The Total Gym is very similar and since I began using it 5 yrs. ago, I'm as limber as I was 20 yrs. ago.

Have you tried pulling your knees up closer to your DH's chest, resting more of your weight on him, rather than spreading them out wide sideways? I find that I can stay on top much longer if I don't attempt to hold myself up the whole time. Try that and see if it helps.

This happens to me also sometimes...just when i'm on top most often...its okay then after a while sometimes it hurts and i feel retarded because i thought i was the only person...it feels like my hip is sore and dislocated when i know it would hurt a lot more if that was the case. so I then have to strecth my legs out infront of me or switch positions...but i'm sorry that it happens to you when you are close.

I suffered a "hip pointer" when I was in hs. 15 years later it still bugs me occasionally. Usually when my hip muscles have been tensed tightly for an extended period of time (i.e. during some sex positions). I'll have to stop what we're doing, work the kink out. Sometimes it will hurt for day after, causing a limp.

I visit a chiropractor regularly (for neck adn back issues) and when I've had a hip issue, the chiro usually fixes it right up.

Choose your friends by their character and your socks by their color.  Choosing your socks by their character makes no sense and choosing your friends by their color is unthinkable.

Thanks, for the suggestions. I have actually been considering doing pilates to lose weight. If it can help with this, all the better. I will try repositioning my legs and resting more weight on him. Hopefully, that will help. I used to stop and work the cramp out, but nowadays (I guess it's because I'm getting older) it comes right back. It's interesting to find other people who experience similar hip pain. BTW you can have dislocated hip problems without severe pain my sister walked around with one for eight years before a Dr. figured out what was wrong. Go figure.

Thanks again for the advice. I put some of it to use already and helped tremendously.
