I think my father thinks I still don't have sex even tho I am 47, married for 25 years and have two teenage children. Seriously, I am not in your situation BUT I know that when my dd indicated that she and her BF were thinking of having sex,I immediately felt my hackles rise, but she was only 15 and he was 17 at the time. We had a few long conversations about

My dad was ok with it, BUT it was because I was older, more responsible, chose a man whom i could build a life with and that my family respected. Had it been some loser guy, I know my dad would not have just bit his tongue and sufferred in silence! LOL

Look at your boyfriend through your dad's eyes. Does he seem good enough for his daughter? Is he the kind of man who will cherish his baby girl or is he some horndog out to use her? Is this a relationship based on love or is it casual sex?

It's really difficult for us to tell why your dad doesn't like your BF. It could be where he is in life, where the two of you are in life, or just the fact that you're his little girl and he can't imagine you having sex.

As the others have said, you're an adult, so you should sit down and have a talk with your dad. Find out where he's coming from. If it's just because you're having sex, then you might need to remind him of your age and your own desires to have sex. He might think this guy talked you into having sex because he's a little older. Letting him know that this guy didn't take your virginity might help him realize that you're not having sex because of the guy, but rather because you desire to be sexually active. Letting him know that you're taking safety precautions from getting pregnant and STDs, that you're being responsible, might also make a difference in him understanding that you're not a little girl anymore.

Good luck, and let us know how things go.

This made me LOL: "Don't get into a big argument with your dad, just talk to him like an adult."

It can be SO difficult getting a parent to react like an adult. ROFL!

sorry Tish, I couldn't help it. How's your jacket these days? lol
