My wife and Vampires

I sure some of you are thinking 'WTF' after reading my discussion title. It was the best way to get your attention.
First, a little background: I'm a 45-year-old male in a Southern city. My wife is 44, but she looks at least 10 years younger. We've been married 22 years, and we feel like we have a strong marriage. We have two kids in their older teens.
My wife is a dedicated bookreader - especially romance novels. She goes through at least two a week. She also science fiction. In the past few months, I noticed that her books had a common theme - vampires. I scanned through a few of those books, and they are very erotic - especially those written by Laurell K. Hamilton.
I'm not jealous or upset that she's reading these books. She can read anything she wants. I'm simply trying to understand the attraction my wife and other women have for vampires. I'd like to know more about it, and maybe I could incorporate that theme into future lovemaking sessions - well, something besides dressing up like vampire. (haha). Believe me, at 5-foot-8 and 225 pounds with a "beer gut," I don't think I'd be the ideal vampire. I get the feeling my wife likes those who are who's tall with dark hair and are physically fit.
I do know she likes being kissed and nibbled on down her neck - as if a vampire was going to take a bite out of her - by someone dancing or standing very close behind her. I saw this last year when she danced with another guy in a New Orleans club. I stepped outside to catch my breath after a few dances, and when I walked back into the club some handsome Latino guy had moved in and was dancing very closely behind my wife, kissing down her neck. Her right arm pulled back and with her right hand guided his head down her neck. She had never done this with me. After this went on for an hour on the floor, they took a break and I caught her attention to let her know I was back and she resumed dancing with me. I wasn't upset with her, just wondering what she was willing to do.
I'd like to hear your ideas and suggestions about how I can help make her passion for vampires a part of our sexual play and even enhance it. Or maybe should I just leave it alone and let her enjoy it by herself ... or with someone else?

I realize it has been a while since you originally posted, but I'm new to this board, and just found your post. I am one of the women who find vampires extremely erotic. I know for me it is because it is something I would like to be. I don't mean the people who "think" they are vampires. I am talking the ones like in Laurell K. Hamilton's books. I know, now people think I'm completely psychotic, but it's true.
There are several reasons that I love vampires. The first is the fangs. I don't know exactly why, but I have pretty much always been fascinated by the two, long, pointy canines. I have several pair of the fake ones that I wear, especially around Halloween. Something that also goes along with this (in a roundabout sort of way) is that I love capes, and your traditional vamps were capes. I wish they were in style so that I wouldn't get the men in white coat with the "I love me jackets" called to come get me....but I digress.
Another reason is I kinda like blood. Another weird one, I know, but true. I like to look at it, like when my DH accidentally cuts himself shaving or if I cut myself or whatever. Blood has never bothered me. And I kinda like the taste (as in when you cut your finger you automatically suck on it to make it feel better....) :) And of course, vampires are all over the blood thing.
I guess the really big reason that I personally love vampires is their immortality (or almost immortality, depending upon the story). This is something that truly fascinates me, because I don't want to die, and they don't die (normally, or at least not easily). I figure there are too many things in this world that I want to experience and I know that one lifetime is just not enough to do it all in. The best way to remedy that is to live for more than one lifetime. How I wish that was possible.... So I guess for me, that is the biggest draw of vampires.
I would also suggest maybe talking to your wife about it (if you haven't already). I would maybe try bringing it up while she is reading one day (if she doesn't mind being interrupted). That way, you can just make it seem like you are curious about what she is reading. I know for me, when I read books about vampires or other supernatural creatures, I usually get rather horny and can't wait for DH to get home from work.....
I hope all of that helps (if you were still looking for opinions). If not, I'm sorry it was so late and sorry to bother you...

I appreciate your reply, Gina. I apologize to everyone for taking so long time to reply (work knows how to get in the way!) and to post this
I'm glad that you talked to your DW about it. I know that I personally am turned on by Laurell Hamilton's vampire books (well, also by the faerie series she has, the Meredith Gentry series. If your wife hasn't read that one yet, she may want to check it out!). I'm glad that your talking has made things more interesting. I can tell you that the situation with the BJ and the anal plug is from similar happenings from the Anita Blake books (although it with two men in the books, instead of one man and toy). If you wanted to find more things that you think your wife may like, try reading some of the books that she does (I think this suggestion was made previously, also). This way, you can initiate something from the books that she will more than likely enjoy. And if it is anything in the books that involves two men, you can always get a toy to replace one of the men.
I hope everything keeps going well for you! And have fun!

My DW knows all about the Merry Gentry series. She has a copy of "A Lick of Frost" from the local library and has visited the Laurell Hamilton web site to read excerpts from "Mistral's Kiss" (on the same day she visited the Literotica and Redhotstories sites).
Through all of this research about Merry Gentry and Anita Blake,
To each his own, please bear in mind that not everyone on here practices Christianity.
I beg to differ. I (as you can tell by my previous posts on this subject) am very into vampires. To me, they are very attractive, dark, and mysterious, which is their main appeal (besides the immortality thing). I also happen to be a Christian. To me, one is not exclusive to the other. And if you truly research the subject area, vampires do not really have a satanic overtone. The most satanic thing about vampires (at least in my opinion) is the part that deals with drinking blood. Now, take Christianity......when one partakes of the Communion wine, does it not at the very least act as a substitute for the BLOOD of Christ? And in some Christian sects, it is deemed to actually take on the "aspects" of the BLOOD of Christ.
In Laurell K. Hamilton's books, there is no satan worship, there are no satanic rituals, and nothing else that I think could qualify as being related to such. Perhaps you should do a little bit of research before you begin condemning people for their likes or dislikes. Also, remember - judge not lest ye be judged.
And, as others have said, you should remember that not everyone who posts on iVillage is a Christian. I'm sure that if you want to talk about purely Christian ideas and what will condemn people or not, there are other boards that you can visit. However, I'm sure that no one here would object to you continuing to post on this board if you find yourself able to accept all people, their beliefs, ideas, etc., without being condemning of others. This does not mean that you have to blindly accept and like what everyone talks about, but it goes back to the old saying: "If you can't say something nice (or at the least, helpful), then don't say anything at all."

I really enjoyed the film myself. What I particularly liked was that Coppola did bring in some history (romanticized as it was) about Vlad Tepes. Some people are unaware where Stoker got his inspiration from, so it was good that Coppola told people that yes, Dracula was indeed a real person.
Another one of my favorite Dracula films is the first Dracula film: Nosferatu, made in Germany in 1922. It's kind of, sort of, based on Stoker's novel. His widow sued the German film company for copyright infringement. The courts ordered that all prints of the film be destroyed, which luckily for film buffs, they weren't. The film has been restored and it's very creepy and eerie. The vampire (who was originally called Count Orlock) is probably the ugliest vampire I have ever seen (and the creepiest). I have the film on DVD.
