Need tips for shaving "down there"...

I've recently taken to shaving it all off... but I want some tips from you ladies out there that do it. My pubic area gets really irritated and red and bumpy. I do it with shaving cream and stuff... it's just so unattractive looking and i do it because I'm going to be naked with a guy and want to look good - not like I have a freakin rash! It happens especially when I do it day after day to get rid of stubble... if I wait a few days till theres a little something there to shave the irritation isn't that bad but its still there. I just wanna be smooth and sexy!

Any tips would be helpful :) Thanks people

I have been shaving for many years and like you, I get very irritated because my skin is so sensitive. I've tried all kinds of shaving creams and baby oil, but the product I've found to work best for me is hair conditioner (any kind) and a men's shaver. The women's shavers and the disposable kind always irritate me, so I got the Gilette Mach 3. I also make sure while I'm shaving that I repeatedly rinse off the blade so there isn't any hair stuck to it and I change the blade pretty often. I never let the blue completley fade. I would also recommend not shaving everyday, especially if you tried to get it REALLY smooth the day before by going over the surface a bunch of times. That always irritates me. Also make sure you ALWAYS do it in the shower (or bath, although if you do it in the bath you'll be surrounded by hair which is kinda icky, hehe)- you never want to do it just by wetting the skin over the sink, your skin will definitely react. When you get in the shower wait a few minutes before shaving so that the warmth of the water and the steam can relax your skin.

Hope this will be helpful!!

i use regular soap. Dove. i soap up very heavily and shave it.. but i have a razor that when u shave you can do curves and not just go up and down or side to side. im african american so my skin doesnt get red. LOL. but it does get irritated, but i am not shy with hair down there with my boyfriend. i let my boyfriend shave it for me, what the heck! if hes with you he will LOVE all of you, and none of the less because you have hair down there! And yea once i do shave i dont have to shave again for another 4-5 days...

hope i helped you Hun.... --<3 Nalei.

I have found that best for *me* not to get red, bumpy, irritated or itchy is to use an electric shaver. Every two to three days. And I douse well with baby powder before starting.

when i shave i usually use guy razors because they seem to work alot better and i only use the razor until the blue stuff isnt conditioning anymore and then i use a new one. for soap i usually use shaving cream or dove body soap. i shave after im done with everything else in the shower so my skin is relaxed from the hot water. i sit on the egde of my shower and when im shaving my lips (labia ) i just go up and down and side to side ( i think thats the easiest part to shave and doesnt get irritated get a rash ) when i shave the front part though i have the razor slightly tilted so im shaving diagonal instead of going straight up because thats how it gets irritated and makes it red and bumby. when i have no more soap i apply more. also when you shave spread you skin kind of .. its easier to get the hair and doesnt hurt as much when its just stubble. id suggest not shaving on a daily basis just because you will always have a rash.
- the only part i shave everyday is my lips, bikini line and towards back door so its nice and soft there atleast. my SO doesnt care if its a little bit of a stubble anyways.

well the first thing I would do is not chave everyday... every 3-4 times a days is fine stuble shouldn't be too bad at that point. I think either a mens razor or a venus devine works awesomely but make sure that it is really sharp... and I would go with the grain of your hair... if you go againist it then even if it is a really sharp razor it still might pull the hairs and that is one of the reasons on the red bumps and irritaion. using a gentel soap without any perfumes or anti baterial stuff in it(no anti baterial because it just isn't good for down there anyways.) But something like dove is gentel but doesn't have the achohol like in perfumed soaps. I have been chaving for a long time, and these seemed to help me... I hope this helps you.

I have shaved for a long time now - All different types of "haircuts" and of course completely shaved.

The best way I've found is to do it while in the bath or shower and wait and do it last after using a conditioner on the hair and allowing it to soak for awhile the hairs are softer and easier to shave without bothering the skin as much.

I always Shave accross the grain first. after that I can go back over against the grain to achieve the smoothest shave possible.

Always use a good razor (I like the Mach 3 turbo) and Never do it day after day. Give your skin some time to rest. If You must shaved 2 or more days in a row be sure to use cocoa butter or some other soothing lotion to help with irritation.

Cotton Panties! Cotton is much easier on the skin and is absorbant. Will help keep the skin dry and less irritated.

>>i use nair for bikini area out it on 5 minutes before i shower.<<

I've heard mixed results using Nair. Some people reacting badly to Nair in those areas - the skin can be too sensitive and you get a "chemical burn". Not pleasant. I think that directions say that you shouldn't use it there too. But hey, if it works for you and you're not getting an irritation, who's complaining?

Thanks everyone!

I took your advice and used conditioner and WOW! So smooth, no redness or bumpiness... who would have thought stupid conditioner was the trick!

I appreciate it!
