New One for Me!

Hello,
I'm wondering about the possibility of pregnancy. I have BC pills (haven't needed them in years, so I will be starting them anew) but have not started taking them yet. I started my period on Monday (plan to start BC this Sunday) but had IC Tuesday night (guess I should have started BC on Monday night). We used condoms and I inserted one contraceptive film beforehand. We had sex a few times (each time with a condom) but I did not insert a new contraceptive film each time. He said he ejaculated alot and could feel it leaking over the condom; he pulled out quickly when he realized this was happening.
Just a bit nervous...should I worry?
Thx!

While I am not a doctor, I am very familiar with my wife's cycle, and when she is and isn't fertile. In most cases, intercourse, in the first few days (up to 6) after the appearance of bright red menses, will not result in pregnancy, provided you have a fairly normal cycle. It sounds like you took all of the necessary precautions (do you wear suspenders with your belt?) so I wouldn't worry.

Of course, one day of taking the pill is NOT going to have any effect on your ovulation. It takes a full month before they will prevent pregnancy. Even if you'd taken one on Monday, it wouldn't have done anything.
If you were "supposed" to start your period on Monday, had intercourse on Tuesday it's highly unlikely you were ovulating. You used a new condom each time, plus you had the film in place. It would be somewhat of a miracle if you'd gotten pregnant.
The only way to know for sure is to get a pregnancy test, it's too soon for any of them, but there is one brand that supposedly works even before your next period is due.
Thanks you two...just a nervous nelly. I will be glad when I've gotten the BC pill back in my system tho.. :)
Thanks again!
