New to sex - possible problem?

I've called on you for advice before, and I got some great help, so I figured I'd try again!

I had sex for the very first time about two weeks ago, and have had it three times since -which is what I think my problem is. Sorry to get into detail, but I'll give you the lowdown on what happened.

Wednesday night and Thursday night, it was fine, and Friday morning I was sore, obviously, being new to sex. Well, that night, it happened again, but this time, my bf used a different type of condom, and it was a lot more painful than usual. I could tell I was dry, and the condom wasn't as well lubricated as the other ones we use.

Anyways, Saturday, when I went to the washroom, I had a burning sensation. I've had it before, and it progressively got better as the day went on. It was still there on Sunday, I started drinking a lot of water, and it seemed to get better.

This morning, I woke up with a bit of burning feeling, drank my water, and I feel as though it is getting better. I do still have a tiny bit of uncomfort down there.

I looked up some of the symptoms of bladder infections and UTI's, and the only reason I had one of the symptoms (frequent need to urinate) is because I started drinking water like crazy today, and I haven't drank that much water in a very long time. I also notice that if I don't drink water daily, and turn to other beverages such as pop or coffee, I get the same burning symptoms for a little bit.

Should I be concerned, or is this just a result of too much sex too soon, along with a very irritable condom, lack of lubrication? Should I just keep on drinking my water and abstain for awhile? It doesn't burn or hurt when I urinate, and my urine isn't cloudy or blood streaked, like it could be when a UTI is present.

Thanks!

I would say it is probably from not being lubricated well enough.

I agree with Tish.....and you've sort of figured it out yourself.....the soreness is from being dry. Until you get more relaxed, and lubricate better on your own, get some lubrication, and use it. There's no reason to be ashamed or embarassed about using it, it's normal for beginners, and some women always need it.

It's not usual to get UTI's from sex, but it can happen. In your case, it's just an irritation of the urethra......my gyno years ago called it "honeymoon cystitis". It's not an infection, it's just rubbed sore by the dryness, and it takes a few days to go away. Lubrication should help keep that from happening again.

Just as an FYI, I went thru a period of a few years when I was getting UTI's constantly, and they're all different. They ALL have the burning on urination, and the frequency of urination.....but if it's a real infection when you do urinate, it's just a few drops, and 5-10 minutes later, you feel like you have a full bladder again, and it's just a few drops. Sometimes there are painful cramps, sometimes not. As for the blood or cloudiness, it's always different, too. I think the most common thing is "dark" blood in the urine. It's not red, it looks more like a cola color. But, I've had a few occasions where there was a LOT of bright red blood, and blood clots. An UTI doesn't go away just because you drink lots of water.....it requires medication to cure it.

If you ever think you have one, you want to see a doctor ASAP, because the longer you wait, the worse it gets, and the harder it is to cure. One other thing the Doctor told me was that the minute I thought I was getting one, I should start drinking cranberry juice. I thought that was crazy, but I checked it out, and there is a chemical in cranberries that can stop an infection in it's tracks. Once I learned that, I kept the juice in the house at all times, and the minute I thought something was happening, I started guzzling cranberry juice, and I've never had a real infection since!

The same exact thing happened to me.......a few weeks later I ended up with both a bladder infection and a yeast infection....then things settled down.

The burning was very irritating, too. It did stop after awhile. I think, for me, it was all the newness of it all..

Good luck!
