Hi!
I am so confused and have gotten to the point that I really trust your advice and know that you wouldn't 'steer' me in the wrong direction with what I'm about to ask.
I am SSOOO dissatisfied with where I am working it is NOT even funny! I want to quit and I want to quit NOW!!!
Here's my question...Do any of you work from home and if so what kind of work do you do. Also, do you like/love what you do and was there much if any training required for it?
I am soo tired of babysitting the people I work with. Example: I make coffee when I know they are going to be here but they NEVER turn off the coffee maker so it stays on all night. I arrived here before them today and it was left on all night so I am going to let them make it and have to dump out the icky thick black coffee that's sitting in there. I only drink one cup to their who knows how many.
Any advice would be appreciated. I know I could post this on some of the work and work from home boards but when I've done that , all I've gotten is solicited and bad advice. (Okay, so there were a few legit ideas thrown at me from the 'regulars' but the 'others', not so good.)

Hey Lyn,
It certainly sounds like you've had enough & it's probably better to leave before you become much more resentful of that environment. Just sounds like lots of negative energy to me -- which is not a 'healthy' situation, in any case.
You strike me as being very resourceful & I know you will find a situation that works for you. I can't really think of anything that would fit the 'work from home' requirement, at this moment. Could you do medical transcription or anything like that? I know that kind of job can be done from home, at night, but don't know what kind of training/background is required to do that.
Anyway, I'm sure it feels good just to be able to vent about it all. Out here in the NY Metro area -- people are especially paralyzed with the fear of losing jobs, aside from everything that's affecting the whole country.
Best of luck -- I know you'll find the right opportunity!!
Just sent you an email on it.
Thanks! I can't wait to read it!
I checked with someone I know who does medical transcription from home and she said that now is not a good time to try to get into it because there are so many people out there who are doing it and a lot of people are getting to the point they now want 'in house' people to do the jobs. I alsmot took the training but I didn't. Somedays I wish I would've but then there are somedays I'm glad I didn't.
I'll find something that works for me. The only upside to my job right now is, if my kids call and say they're sick or I see that they're being let out early for weather or something, I used to tell the interim person that 'they're out and I'm gone.' Sometimes I'd even leave work early if the snow was really starting to come down so I could take my time to get home safely (10 miles on the highway). I don't know if that'll go over with the new people as well but if I'm still there (and hopefully I won't be) they'll just have to learn to live with it I guess.
My suggestion is that you keep thinking about potential opportunities, but keep your job until you figure something out, that way you'll have the paycheck coming in. The holidays are just around the corner, so the $ will come in handy for that. Once you get through the holidays, you can decide if you can 'stand' the job anymore.
If you set a goal for yourself of deciding by say, Jan. 1st, whether to stay or go -- there's at least an end in sight. You could be in a situation where you could be working a lot harder & making less $, so sit tight, if you can stand it!
Have a great weekend!
That doesn't sound like too bad of an idea.
