Summer unofficially starts for me when I leave the office Friday-although I have a LOT of potential trials coming up.

WOW, not having to pay taxes on it makes a huge difference. You'll have to park your tent in the Sandi's back yard. We wouldn't want to miss the mansion!

It is tax free money as long as you do not earn any interest on the money.

Hmmm, that's interesting. So if you deposit it in the bank, they go back and tax you on it, or is just the interest taxable?

IMO that sounds fair. Here lottery winnings are exempt from state tax-if you live in the state where the ticket is bought. So Mega Millions would be NJ tax free but Powerball (which I buy in PA) would not be. Of course the Feds will want "their share" no matter what.

We pay tax on all the interest we earn too ... but we also have to pay the feds on the amount we win. Your deal is much better!
