is there ever a way to tell if you are ovulating?
i know that it is "supposed" to happen, about 7 days after your period, right between the follicular and luteal stages. & i have heard it happens in a "moment"
so is that the only time you can get pregnant?

There is something out there that is supposed to tell you when you're ovulating, if you WANT to get pregnant, and there's also the "temperature" system. But, that's in a perfect world. You definitely can't tell by counting days, because you could be ovulating 2-3 days in a row, or a day late, or a day early. Even "regular" women can vary by a few days. Some women have been known to get pregnant during their periods, and that's NOT when "normal" women (in a "normal" cycle) ovulate, but it happens.

Again, if you don't want to get pregnant, you have to use birth control, simple as that.

Ovulation is not the only time you can pregnant. If you are having sex without using a condom or a contraceptive that contains Nonoxynol-9 which kills sperm, sperm can live inside your body for at least 24 hours after sex and up to three days or so. Now when you are ovulating, your egg must become fertilized within 12-24 hours. Pre deposited sperm can result in pregnancy making the window of opportunity larger. By the way ovulation usually occurs on or about the 14th day of your menstrual cycle. There are also products at the drug store called ovulation predictors that you can use at home, They also have fertility monitors to predict your most fertile days.

I just wanted to add that pregnancy can occur at any time in many women and if you do not want to be pregnant use some form of birth control.

There are natural methods for predicting when you are fertile and when you are not fertile. They are not easy, and they do require some effort, but they are effective (if you follow the rules).

According to my wife, all it takes is your taking a chance with some guy you don't really want to spend the rest of your life with.
